So what Shikhar?
Even if you assume you win toss....YOU HAVE TO ...name your super-sub BEFORE TOSS. You can't say, if I lose the toss, my super-sub will be different.
This is a flaw in the rule, but, thats the way it is!
*Logically, Raina is a better sub. He can bat as well as bowl, depending on when you want him in team. Otherwise, JP Yadav! |

Hopefully, India wont expose Gambhir and Raina at the top order against SA in the very first match. Raina has no exposure to SA and his highest score is 39.Gambhir's record against SA is not worth any mention either(18,2,11). If India really wants to nurture these young batsmen, they should not be exposing them which could ruin their careers. |

That 18,2,11 was in his debut series when he got those typical Ganguly given thankless breaks. You score you are doomed and don't score you are doomed too!
Gambhir is a good batsman with a pretty organised game. On Indian pitches he won't be any less than anyone.
Raina won't be at the top order. As super-sub, he will be more of a lower order guy and might get a look in at the top occasionally!
In any case, people need to perform to stay. And both these guys seem good. |

I think Gambhir will be DROPPED which will be sad, as he has done better than Kaif and Yuvraj in the limited chances he has got (only 2 chances).
This is the first match of the tournament, so India HAS TO play their best possible 12. If Gambhir does not feature in the team, that means he is DROPPED, and not omitted because of flexibility. But I dont think there is any reason to drop him. The person who has performed the least in the 7 match series should be dropped. That has to be Yuvraj or Murali Kartik or Kaif or Raina.
But, Raina did not get much chance, and he did well in Pune. Same for Kaif. Kartik is bowler, and India need a bit of protection in bowling dept. So, Yuvraj should be dropped !!!!!!!!!!! |

I would not drop Kartik against SA. kaif cant face SA bowlers. Gambhir is no brainer in this case. |

So, do you think Gambhir should be selected ?
Who do you think shiuld be dropped then ? It must be a batsman.. you cant drop a bowler and include gambhir.. |
