Worth a read, for sure, whether you agree with it or not.

Re: Test cricket is dying but cricket is not
Link doesn't work - but test cricket isn't dying.
Aus, SA, NZ, WI and Eng suck in spin countries.
Aus, Ind, SL and Bang suck in seam/swing countries.
Aus like roads. Ind, SL and Bang like dustbowls. SA, Eng and NZ like swing and nibble.
Pak are still as unpredictable in swing/seam/spin as they ever have been (but they suck on roads).
SA likes roads.

It isn't your fault Katto. While some people have the benefit of wisdom or education that teaches them that the way to debate an argument is to deal with the facts and logic of an argument, primal nature from monkey's throwing poop at anyone they they disagree with or don't like the arguments of is to attack the person instead (via Ad Hominem).
I think you have the potential to evolve Katto, even if not granted the opportunity to. I think your potential exceeds a poop throwing monkey, even if that is where your ad hominem responses to arguments is still at today.
Though, I could be wrong, you could just be retarded.
Here's a hint, find a problem with the logic or facts (incl their selection), before finding personal reasons of bias for the alleged poor argument being presented as being "obsessed with this angle". That's how logical debate works. You don't get to just throw poop at the person presenting an argument you don't like. First and always you must deal with the actual argument. Then deal with the person if you think it necessary. And remember, consistent thought is not obsession, it is just consistent opinion.
Sorry if you find my reply harsh, I just cbf with being polite to illogical and fallacial views today.

The earlier link wasn't right.
This should work.
It's a pretty interesting piece - sees cricket from an economic perspective, talking about incentives. Please do read and comment.

Re: Test cricket is dying but cricket is not
I think one more generation will be needed to die completely. Why someone will waste their time to play for 5 days when you can earn money by playing 20 overs only. Even players are going for early retirement from national team for playing in T20 franchises.
Why someone will go to watch a game for 5 days when you can have the same entertainment within 2 hours. All cricket stars are now expert of T20 level. I don't find any new talent who can bat to score a 400 runs innings or gets 8/9 wicket in an innings.

Test cricket will always be there. Non profit for the purists. It will be a small part of cricket in the future. T20 is already ruling.

You reckon?
cricket is no where near what it was in the 90's / 2000's, worst thing that happened to cricket was T20's.

Same Skill ! ! ! ! Not necessarily
However, now a days it depends on money. If Test cricket can generate money, it will survive. Otherwise not. ICC is trying to popularize with D/N test or pink ball. Hope it will work.

Bowl balled to batsman. What the batsman must do is a different challenge. But the skill - is a skill.
