Mayank Agarwal
He's not from Mumbai, so yes, his 2051 runs count for nothing.
His scores in Vijay Hazare Trophy (India's 50-over domestic tournament): 77, 109, 84, 28, 102, 89, 140, 81.
And today 90.
His performance in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (India's 20-over domestic tournamnt) is also impressive. 3 50s, SR of 144.
He had an amazing Ranji Trophy season too.
But then, he's not from Mumbai.

Then all the more reason to give him a chance, so that the current FTB (Rohit Sharma) doesn't take his place for granted.
But of course Rohit is from Mumbai, captain of Mumbai Indians - and is Kohli's buddy.
Mayank is a nobody.

Re: Mayank Agarwal
I am not for Mumbai, Delhi , any regional bias.
If there are 11 best players from Karnataka, go for it. No need of any Mumbai players.
Merit comes before any regional bias. Let the best players be selected in the squad from Mumbai / Delhi / Bangalore / Chennai or Timbaktoo in India.

Re: Mayank Agarwal
I am very biased.
Even if the best cricketers are from Mumbai, I wouldn't pick them.
So what'll happen? BCCI will lose, right? Like I care!
I'd rather see a non-Mumbai BCCI team thrashed, than a BCCI team (with Mumbaikars in it) win.
The happiest day of my life in any year is when Mumbai Indians is knocked out of the IPL.
Ok, am just pulling your leg, bolero.
I know you're a staunch Mumbaikar, and even know Mumbai cricketers, current and past.
I do have a chip on my shoulder about Mumbai cricketers, but (a) it's limited to cricketers, not to people, and (b) it's from the past, when Mumbai cricketers were picked at the expense of others.
Mumbai is still my least favourite Indian team but I'm ok with Mumbai cricketers in the Indian squad. Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma....anyone I've missed?

Re: Mayank Agarwal
Here's an explanation.
Apparently, he's ok with playing the waiting game - according to chief selector MSK Prasad.

Shikhar Dhawan waited for ten years before he broke into BCCI team. Others too should wait, and (more importantly) capitalise when the chances are given to them.

Agree. Dhawan was made to wait for 8 to 10 years. Like Hayden, he was making waves on the domestic circuit.
Poor man's Hayden. And Dhawan made it count when given the chance. Thats why he is the first choice opener.
