Where did you get the Australian squad from?, not that I'm disagreeing. Maxwell only as cover for any injuries but other than that some 13 for Adelaide

Root needs the sack, only seen him skipper 1 Test but its enough to show his shit. 170 runs on the board he didnt attempt to attack once, absolute shithouse.

England attack really falls away after Anderson/Broad.
I think they have a stronger batting line up, but the bowling will be the deciding factor in this series.

Still I cannot depend on Australia to play on sided. England just need to concentrate a bit. It is possible.
So, Good Luck to both the teams.

Bancroft said in answer post match to a query from Slater that he wouldn't like to be facing our pace trio under lights.
Smith said a few days before game one facing them in the nets was a trial.
They seem to be nearing their peak and regard themselves as a pack.
Stoinis is similar to Watson as a much needed allrounder and must be close to selection.
Handscome may be on notice I reckon he is lacking in defence.

Stoinis needs to make runs at Shield level first.

So most England pundits suspect Jake Ball is no certainty for the next test.
The safest swap is with Overton, who typically a better bat and bowling in form, has batted 3 innings this tour and made 3 ducks.
KP wants a gamble on Mason Crane.
And Foakes or Ballance are outside selection options.

As a general caveat, this makes sense - but Stoinis has been pretty impressive for Straya in ODI cricket away this year with the bat and made runs back home in Shield in previous years.
If the team wants an a/r - he isn't the poorest batting option to try imo. I would be more concerned by his lack of FC wickets if he is to play a large bowling role.
But does Australia and Smithy really want an a/r or 6 batsmen? If Lyon is as good 1st innings bowl option as any a/r - he can bowl big overs no problem.
Last test day 1 - he bowled 24 overs for 40 runs. Thats excellent holding. Plus he looked likely for a wicket at times.

Stoinis is nowhere near the Test side, this summer in 2 Shield Matches he has scored 63 runs @21.00 and bowled 9 overs for 0/20.
His move back to WA looks to be a mistake. To be honest there is no one who can do the job of 5th bowler other than Maxwell, really having a decent season, Stoinis & Henriques are having very poor seasons, Marsh can't bowl at present due to a injury, Wildermurth while going very well with the ball is not scoring enough runs, Head and Cartwright are having mediocre seasons at best.

The selectors have shown their hand by using Maxwell as cover for Marsh/Warner when they were carrying niggles.
They won't drop anyone from a winning side in any case.
We want a number 6 batsman who can bowl and if Handscom fails again Maxi will be the current choice.
Can he bowl well enough you say to give the quicks a rest though you could argue they are travelling well enough ATM.

Brisbane got away but England were good enough to have won it.
Anyway, they'll make amends at Adelaide - and then go on to win the series 4-1.

Momentum toward Australia now, cricket guru belives Cummins/Hazelwood generate more pace on Adelaide track at night, england good enough to win some test but not 4/1 for sure because their batting lacks Potential to drag the proceedings on day 5

I’m not working day one so hopefully can catch some TMS in the morning.
If they want to take out Jake Ball for Overton then fair enough but I wouldn’t otherwise mess with the team so much. Just go out their and do your best.

Lillee and Marsh got 500/1 just on England to win Botham's test in 81

The closest if not actual wordsmith I've encountered here was striped lungi. Yes I know he fooled around and talked a lot of crap, displaying cricket was rarely his forte, but he did so while utilising and demonstrating a vast vocabulary with excellent use thereof (as well as an impressive general knowledge). His command of the English language would put most if not almost all native speakers to shame.
The word you're looking for to describe raja is presumably raconteur.
There's a difference between the two. One is skilled with words themselves, one is skilled at telling (cricket) anecdotes.

Absolutely. Striped Lungi, Asterix, Going South, Squarecut, Shalini (me too) are founder members. Raja joined in immediately after the forum was created alongwith Ankur. Oldtimer, Scud , ITG and Bharath.
Most of the forum's development (hard work put in) is because of Striped Lungi, Going South, Asterix and Ankur.

I was horrified the other week when I noticed how long ago I joined this forum. (Edit: oh my god SEVEN YEARS!)
I remember the names you put in your other post, and used to converse regularly with lungi via PM I believe he’s the only one here who ever knew my first name and vice versa.
Underneath his lunacy he always seems a real nice bloke.

Shame for all those who bought tickets.
Raining is ruining matches all over shame. Eden Gardens, 1st 2 days mostly washed off, robbed the game of a result.
1st Test Ashes also affected by rain, but luckily could be completed.

Remember the old forum? I had another handle then.
Bolero, Raja, SuperGLS.Ankur, I could go on were here then and others like Shorty are gone.
Shorty PM'd me about joining another forum but it was pretty average.
Been away myself nice to be back.
Maybe Ted Ward will write a few of his stories for us again.
