World Heavyweight Boxing

If Klitschko does not beat Fury in the rematch, then Jo Parker will most likely be fighting Athony Joshua or Tyson Fury for the IBF belt. All Parker needs to do now is win his fight over Takam on May 21, and he has a guaranteed title shot.
This is great news for Parker, who was denied a fight by Australian Lucas Browne - who subsequently after a positive Test A sample will possibly lose his belt anyway that he took of Chechnyan, Chagaev.
It appears that the Klitschko dominated era of holding the belts in heavyweight boxing could be ending very soon.
Recently, with Fury, Joshua, Parker and Browne, the heavyweight boxing has gotten more interesting for me than the Klitschko era has been.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
I watched the Joshua vs Martin fight last night. Joshua knocked Martin down twice in the second round and the second brought about a stoppage. Before the fight Joshua was the bookies' overwhelming favourite and both fighters showed why. Joshua just needed couple big shots while Martin looked clueless. I'm a big fan of Joshua the fighter and person, so will be following his progress with interest.

Yeah, he is a class act by all accounts. In NZ, there is a lot of press about Joshua because he with Joe Parker are the two biggest young guns in heavyweight world boxing. A showdown could be all but one fight a away if Parker beats Takam.
If Parker wins that fight, he has a secured shot at the title. It could be Klitschko, Fury or Joshua. If Klitschko beats Fury in the rematch, and Parker beats Klitschko, Joshua will then fight Parker in a world heavyweight bout. If that goes well, these two young guys could be in for a Ali v Frazier series of rematches.
Parker turned down Martin's invitation for the IBF belt fight because his managers could not give the guaranteed purse Martin was after. So he fought Joshua for GBP instead.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
I'm hearing Joshua will have a 2 or 3 easy defences lined up and thereafter things could get interesting. David Haye seems very interesting in going up against him too. Tbh I don't follow boxing too much and haven't heard of Parker. The names I have been seeing are the Brits (Fury, Haye, Joshua) and then Klitschko and Wilder.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
Update:
Joseph Parker is the WBO Champion. He was due to fight Hughie Fury who has pulled out of the fight.
Anthony Joshua is the IBF champion who just beat Klitschko for the WBA (and IBO) belts.
So, the show down if both retain their belts will happen, but first:
Klitschko has to decide if he wants a rematch. Then, Joshua has a tough decision to make to either risk his belts to Parker, or to Tyson Fury. There is no doubt that the bigger purse will follow Fury. Because, if Kitschko retires, these are the 2 fights people want to see the most for Joshua, he may fight lesser contenders to keep the belts longer and increase the purse as the demand for the fights soars. He does this at risk of losing belts as Joseph Parker is a mandatory challenger for the IBF belt.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
With Fury, Joshua, and Parker, and the remaining Klitschko on the decline post 40 years of age, the boxing heavyweight division is set to soar again. All that is needed now to ice the cake, is a USA challenger to emerge.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
Jo Parker defeated the prev undef Hughie Fury to retain the WBO belt and giving him no mandatory challengers left to fight. With no details released of a unification bout vs fellow champs Joshua and Wilder, Parker's time is best spent now in raising his profile.

The world of Fury, Joshua, Wilder and Parker is now seeing alliances form in the boxing promotion negotiations.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
Parker's management want 35% for a unification bout with Joshua next year and a guaranteed rematch should Joshua lose.
Joshua's management want more than 65%.
This is starting to become a media drama.

Re: World Heavyweight Boxing
Joseph Parker loses in a points decision.
He is still young, so his career potential is far from over, but his career earnings potential just plummeted.
Wilder is next in line for Anthony Joshua, while Parker could potentially go away and win an easy fight or two, and then coincide with Tyson Fury's comeback, the winner getting another shot at glory.
