RIP.

He was one of the foremost allrounders of the world in his time.

Sobers was of course No.1, but at the next level, we had the likes of Goddard and Eddie Barlow (SA) and John Reid (NZ).

Each country had its all-rounders - Durrani & Nadkarni (India), Titmus & Illingworth (England), Intikhab Alam and Mushtaq Mohammed (Pak).

Australia struggled for a while after Benaud and Davidson though Simpson was a handy bowler and could be called an allrounder.

In fact, when I was a kid, the biggest lament in Aussie cricket was that they had not found an allrounder to replace the mighty Davidson.

I guess the search is still on, though Mitch Marsh might just end it.

Sorry, am digressing.

RIP, Trevor Goddard.

I think his last test, he gave 69 runs in 50+ over, is that in 1970? I think so.he can Swing the ball plus Reverse ball so well.

No, I just checked.
That was at Leeds in 1955.
62 overs, 37 maidens, 69 runs, 5 wickets.
