Quite an enjoyable article. It appears that he is a better story teller than a player though. :)

Haha.

To be fair to him, he was a decent bowler. I remember he was brought back into the England side after a long gap, and toured India.
He did quite well on that tour, if I remember right. :-)

Read this again - and enjoyed it again.

It's hard to describe what it is but there's a charm about cricket that doesn't involve BCCI.

there you go. You have a knack to bring BCCI into a totally unrelated discussion.

It’s raining outside here. It’s BCCI fault. ;)

Hey, I only said there's a charm in cricket that doesn't involve BCCI.
That's not an insult to BCCI - not everything in the world revolves around BCCI.
It's like if you're in India and surrounded by crowds all the time, and you get away to a country like Bangladesh or Pakistan that gives you peace, it's not an insult to India. It's just that being away from India feels good, that's all.

why bring it? ignore completely.

reminds me of a comedy scene from a movie where a comedian borrows coat for marriage from a friend who always talk about that coat. When warned about not to talk about coat, that friend end up saying “don’t ask me about that coat” to everyone to the annoyance of the poor guy.
That’s your BCCI equivalent infatuation.

I like what he wrote about Viv wearing a helmet.

I read somewhere once that Sylvester Clark had two speeds to handle the county grind, but when Viv or any of the senior West Indian batsmen played against him in County, it was full throttle as he wanted to be in the international team.
