Nearly 370 games for Warwickshire with 1198 wickets, then forged a lasting career with the BBC. TMS mourned his passing this morning, aged 85. The end of a good innings, as Blowers would say, Bannister has "put his cue back on the rack."

A surprise he never got a Test shot. I suppose he couldn't displace Trueman, Bedser or Tyson or Statham or somebody. Man we had a great team in the 1955-1965 period
