Discovery

Postby raja » Mon Jun 08, 2015 7:00 pm

This thread is for matches (mainly Tests) which I am discovering only now.

I had a blackout period from 1988-2003.
During this period, I missed out on many series.
Except for the ones in England (and the odd other game, like the Lara 153*) I hardly knew about most series going on.

Am still discovering Tests from that period.

Just discovered this today. Must have been a fantastic game. Why is it not talked about more?

I also had a blackout period similar to Raja's, but I remember the West Indies vs Australia match where West Indies won by one run.

As for Sri Lanka vs Australia match, Sri Lanka used to choke a lot against Australia and Pakistan those days. This match (the first link) is one such example.

I remember following this match at the time, didn't watch it on time as there was no cable or dish around. Followed it on news.

Things I remember from the match. It would been a huge upset had SL beat Aus even though SL should have won but lost but it was still considered as an achievement coming so close to beating Aus in the Test.

It was KAlu's debut match and he scored a hundred and one of Warne's earlier matches where e manged to contribute.

From the first link, this guy got the MOM award.

I love when I've never even heard of a cricketer before and I find out there were a decent player like this guy.

153 was a classic. Perth was mind blowing, also known as change of gaurd, after that game WI was never powerful and Aussies were a superpower.
