On This Day,That Year :?$200,000 For Under-perform?

2nd October 1994

The greatest last-wicket stand

Inzamam ul Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed fashioned an unlikely victory with a 57-run last-wicket stand in a Test that was filled with on-field and off-field drama. Australia had not won a Test in Pakistan for 35 years. Michael Bevan, making his Test debut, top scored for Australia in their first innings. The visitors secured a healthy 81-run lead but were restricted in the 2nd innings despite a century from David Boon. Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis shared nine wickets and Pakistan were left with a target of 314. They looked on course for most part but in came Shane Warne, who toiled alone on the last day, to pick a five-fer. Meanwhile, there was off-field controversy when it was alleged that Saleem Malik had called Warne and Mark Waugh on the fourth day evening and offered them cash to the tune of $200,000 to under-perform on the last day. Pakistan slipped to 258/9 when Mushtaq joined Inzamam. The duo took it slowly and began to frustrate the Aussies by getting closer to the target. Warne still stood between the duo. When it came down to just three needed, Ian Healy slipped up. A big leg-break from Warne, had Inzama stepping down but it spun past him and Healy fluffed a stumping. To make matters worse, it went for four byes! Inzamam and Mushtaq had put on 57 - the highest last-wicket stand to win a Test. Dickie Bird later called it the best match he had officiated
Oct.10,'17 : Ind & Pak beaten in Int'L same day.

how many matches in the above list are fixed by Salim malik? you never know.
every match played by him is a suspect for match fixing.
all the good/bad performances of pakistan in this period is tarnished.
