1st ODI: England v Sri Lanka, The Oval, May 22 2014

Postby SuperGLS » Thu May 22, 2014 12:23 am

Don't know who will win this one. Got to think England are favorites on home soil and since these guys should have been getting a fair bit of practice in the county matches.

But, this is a strong Sri Lankan side.

8AM start for me. Perfect timing.

England squad for first three ODIs: Alastair Cook (capt), Ian Bell, Joe Root, Gary Ballance, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler (wkt), Ravi Bopara, Chris Jordan, James Tredwell, Harry Gurney, Jimmy Anderson, Tim Bresnan, Chris Woakes, Michael Carberry.

I wonder if Harry Gurney will get a start.

Bell off the mark with a 4.

Dilshan drops Cook. Not in the blinder category, but a tough one. He has his hand on it. Should have taken it.

It's hard watching slow scoring again after so much IPL. Good thing there are some ODIs before the tests start again. 46 for 1 after 11.

Sky using the WASP system that they were using in NZ over the winter.

I couldn't watch two things at once raja, it's either one thing or the other.

As you can see, the covers look well set in London.

Should be plenty of excitement on offer in Ranchi soon.

1. Never tell me what to write or where to write it.
2. Never try to take liberties with me.
3. Don't bother trying to show off in front of your mates, it just makes you look a dick.

Follow these simple little instructions and we'll get along just fine.

There is only one rule for muppets and that is THERE ARE NO RULES. If anyone lays down a single rule, that is a violation of the rule..

Fair enough.

This board might be different or it might not.

I am here to chat about cricket that's all.

On many forums you can be bullied and some places can be toxic.

I stand by what I say.

I am amiable enough so let's keep it that way.

Here we do not take liberties.. we just have a fun time like we would over a couple of drinks. No malice.. I tell GS he has a scorpion tatoo drawn on his bottoms by his cleaning lady.. and I tell Super he has phone err romance with lalit modi.. and they reply in the same vein.. no offence given or taken.

Cricket, we do talk about it.. but there is only that much we can talk about a SINGLE subject. And what fun is cricket with out a bit of leg pulling.. we are not fanatics here. We are fans alright but not like the rowdy fans that infest stadiums and run over people and property when their team loses or wins depending on their moods. It is just fun we have and that is what we think is the driving spirit.. You can stand by, under, over what you said but it does not matter a squat to anyone here.. No one bullies here. Argue yes.. squabble yes.. poke fun and pull one anothers legs yes.. Insults no.. bullying no. Either you gel and get used to it or you don't is left to the members tastes. We do not dictate terms.. freedom is the mantra.. being tied up isn't.. no rules except no porn, no cursing or abusing a member or their family their race or religion. Calling Boyce an asshole is perfectly ok. calling a member the same here is not.

AND WE LAY DOWN THE RULES.

I respect that.

But the person concerned couldn't even be bothered to reply to a personal message, such is their arrogance.

Anyhow, the clue lies therein... "we are like a family here"... I've posted on and off but never felt like I was welcome, accepted or understood and certainly never part of 'the family'.

I also see that there are very few regular posters here and that the majority are admin, (all very odd) which points again to 'the family' but perhaps more in essence, a dictatorship and kind of explains to me why your board does not attract or can keep new members because of the atmosphere

I see no point in continuing in an environ that I don't understand or enjoy or agree with and will be pleased if one of you can delete my account and forget I was ever here.

This will be done at least parting on good terms.

Thank you.

Sure.. not an issue dinamix.. the reason why you did NOT feel welcome is.. because you were keeping yourself in the borders and no one stopped you from indulging in banter. As for dictatorship.. well each to his own. The reason most regulars are admins (in your language dictators) because we have members across the globe and sometimes there needs to be a person incharge to weed out troublemakers.. And you were not weeded out because you were not a trouble maker. There are no special favors granted to anyone and that includes ADMIN.. except for banning/deleting/editing or initially handholding a person there is no need for admins here and that also happens once in a blue moon and usually with BOTS.

But if you expected a few flowers sent to you as welcome gift and a red carpet.. I am sorry we neither have any such intension be it barak obama if he choses to waste his time here or bill gates neither do we have such resources to enable such a thing. (Madhuri dixit might be an exception to this rule however).

Oh well it was good you participated and you will be welcome if you ever decide to return. As for the id, no one will be hacking/useing it so it just will remain domant in the database (admins do not have time to screw around the server for the heck of removing an id. Admin action is invoked only as an emergency and when absolutely needed). To be honest, most of us would ban ourself going by the standards you are expecting here. And please rest assured, if there is a fan crowd that we might have to handle post your retirement, we will do our best to calm them down.

Any ways.. lets stick to the ODI at hand please.. (to everyone else).

A very nice reply Striped Lungi, you explain the position very well and I am not trying to blame everyone else for my stuff-ups, please be assured of this, I am simply writing about how I see things.

A red carpet would need to be earned surely? Anyway I wish everybody well for the future, I have plenty of other things to be going on with.

Hey this is just for time pass. If you have other things to do.. beware.. this and ANY message board is addictive and you might end up mucking up other stuff. Seriously I have known people who have gotten fired for logging in to MB's from their work and they were so addicted they took the risk anyway.. So yes I do suggest you attend to the important things first before getting into banter and time pass here. And that goes not just for dinamix.. it goes for everyone. I myself did not login for a few years and started back only a few months ago after almost 3 or may be more years and this site while it belongs to everyone technically speaking, it is supposedly MY site.. so please be aware of this (this = the site being addictive and people getting into trouble because of that.. it means a diddly squat that I registered the domain.. this is otherwise a foster child of asterix, gs, ankur, burmesedays and assorted others who kept it going all along).

And all the best for your current and future thingys Dinamix and rest assured you will be welcome anytime you feel like.

Btw. One little clarification. There is no official single admin for this forum. All are admins. We even take turns each year to pay hosting fees of this site. All mods are honorary members that are with us for more than 5 years. Most of us are highly educated & well settled though they act like 5 year old at times. That's all for just time pass.
I guess you missed my joke.
Those round Gandhi style glasses are made famous by Harry potter. I hate that characterization as I find it waaaay too stupid. There is an Indian parady for same in Hindi called Hari-puttar aka son of Hari, which is equally annoying ;)

That is ok GS. See we do not expect everyone to log out their emotions/inhibitions and become 5 year olds or worse teenagers. We do it is because we are able to.. and we understand each other. I cannot say much to a person who laments that his PMs were ignored and ergo the deduction is, we do not welcome them.. and expects that we understand and accept them (which we do but how do we tell it to them overtly? Host a party? Hug them and say it is allright or it will be alright in time or something like that?). It is more like a bloody exam where we have to prove ourself. I am at a loss to see how such expectations can be e-fulfilled.. perhaps I should fax them a picture of mine so they can cuddle and fall asleep (Like super does with a modi picture?) dunno.. and then do I have to fax it daily? weekly? Monthly? this is a Message board for chrissakes.. not a romantic boyfriend girlfriend relationship where you have to freeking UNDERSTAND each other and adjust to their likes/dislikes etc. Err I am confused now.

Lol. We post whatever comes to mind. No filters. No introspection of am I offending anyone with my insensitive posts etc feelings before posting. Just check on name calling. Rest all ok. It's muppets galore. Post like a muppet is the motto. I guess we need to clean up this thread and move to different one. I can't do it now.

Sky using the WASP system that they were using in NZ over the winter.

The percent score is the likelihood of Sri Lanka winning.

247 is a lot more than I thought England would get, especially after Morgan got out.

Cant believe England are persevering with Root as a spinner though.
