IHAG English 2017 County Championship

Usual rules apply. Five players to score a combined total of 5000 points. Full County Championship games are the only ones that contribute to the game, defined as those included on the Cricket Archive website.

The challenge lies in picking five players good enough to dominate the county season but not good enough to be selected for England and thus not be available for the county game.

We ran this last season soon and it was a success. Raja pretty much dominated with his selection of ben Duckett and tom curran.

Note: once your five players are chosen, they cannot be changed once the season starts and you are stuck with them, even if they get injured. Those are the breaks!

A group of England rejects and unavaiables.

Annoyingly, and perhaps unforgivably, Cricket Archive now requires a payment for use.

I've got to wait for Somerset to play to start getting some points. Banking on trescothick being as evergreen as last season and also on them making spinning pitches for leach like they did last season

So many new games under way, right now.

Westley made 86 and 10 against Somerset and Dent made 67 and 20 or something similar against someone. And your other three combined to make the other 130-odd or so I guess

All the players on 0 are certainly correct as I can check, they haven't played. Due to Cricket Archive being a f**k I'm only 90% I've updated all the players correctly. Rest assured that it will be all correct come the end.

In hindsight, my team should have had Kumar Sangakarra in!

I picked Bresnan last year and he did good, but I went for some youth in Clarke Foakes and Leach, influenced by an article in read in the Cricketer about up and coming talent. Trescothick I picked out of loyalty, and Patel was chosen as an all-rounder who might score well even if he has a moderate season with bat and ball.

Early days, but maybe I should have picked some more bankable established talent.

Couple of these players aren't being featured in their county's FC line-up which is unfortunate.

Some more updated scores.

Note not all teams have been updated, Somerset, Surrey and Gloucestershire scores not updated, not Derbyshire. And Bresnan for Yorkshire hasn't been updated.

But otherwise:

Boycs 2125
raja 1909
leo 1848
misty 1420
Mick1804 1341

Samit Patel with 870 pts and Collingwood with 806 are the best of the choices so far. WestLey, Northeast have both topped 500+ with ten Doeschate, Leach close behind.

Burke, Allenby and Ed Joyce were duds who have not been selected/retired.
