Are ALL games televised in India? If so, I will have 11 days to refresh my Tata Sky membership after we arrive on 8th September.

What abut spectators? Are the games being played for empty stadiums or will there be crowds. In any case, no one can beat the deliciously insane atmosphere of Indian grounds.

C'mon RCB!!!!

BCCI brings Sportradar on board to monitor corruption in IPL

September 17 2020

The BCCI has decided to bring on board Sportradar, a leading supplier of sports integrity solutions and data products, to work alongside the Board's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) in monitoring and safeguarding the integrity of the Indian Premier League's 13th edition in the UAE this year. The tournament is scheduled to get underway on Saturday (September 19) with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.

"Sportradar's integrity services will help monitor all the 54 matches this season to detect betting irregularities and provide the board with risk assessment by gathering intelligence and data-driven insights," Board sources told TOI. Sportradar had recently red-flagged six suspicious matches in the Goa Professional League, as reported by TOI.

The company's "Fraud Detecting System (FDS) monitors odds in the markets of over 600 bookmakers and these bookmakers are of different kinds, from different countries, different regions, including the so called grey market or the illegal operators," Tom Mace, who heads Sportradar's global operations, was quoted as saying.

The FDS is set up to track changes in these odds and the system generates alerts when there is potentially suspicious and unusual movement in the market, which is flagged, and then the analysts take over.

It is for the first time that the BCCI has taken a step forward in looking at ways to curb the bookie-menace outside of its own existing ecosystem. Until now, the Board was primarily dependent on its ACU team that would work with local police intelligence and force to track illegal betting across the country.

It is learnt that FDS personnel conducted their first online session with the IPL players in UAE on Tuesday and more such processes are expected to follow.

Sportradar's Integrity Services - a 20-year-old company - works with several sports governing bodies, leagues, state authorities, and law enforcement agencies around the world to support the fight against betting-related matchfixing and corruption and are partners with close to 1,000 companies in over 80 countries including the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, FIFA and UEFA.

BCCI has shown keen interest in how Sportradar operates, keeping tabs on close to 300,000 games a year in battle against corruption in sports. In the Group D matches of the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea, spikes in betting activity raised eyebrows when Nepal lost 4-0 to Iraq, 5-0 against Kuwait and 4-0 to Japan. Thirteen months later, five Nepali players were arrested for match fixing.

In November 2016, Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey awarded South Africa a penalty against Senegal in a Fifa World Cup qualifier, even though the ball clearly hit defender Kalidou Koulibaly's knee. A mere four months later, he was banned for life for fixing that match.

Both the cases had unusual moments which were spotted by Sportradar. "They work extensively in the west and it's time Indian cricket brings world class support systems on board if it has to defeat corruption in the game," say those connected with the BCCI.

Really. But for them and their Devil incarnate boss, that name would be a compliment.

I hope CSK and everyone else trample MI-BB underfoot into the UAE dust never to rise again.

Game # 1 IPL @ 7.30 pm IST (6 pm Local ) :dance2: :macarena

Mumbai Indian vs Chennai Super King

Starts at 19:30 IST, Sep 19 (14:00 GMT)

Ever since Rohit Sharma took over captaincy at Mumbai Indians, they’ve had the wood over Chennai Super Kings, with a 10-6 advantage - a record that no other team boasts of. Since he has taken over, the franchise has won four titles - yet another exclusive success story. But just to add a blemish to all that glitter with another record is the fact that ever since he has taken over, Mumbai Indians have never won their opening game of the season. They may have come to become the best finishers in the tournament, but there’s almost an aversion to gain first mover’s advantage.

When: IPL 2020, Match 1, Saturday, September 19, 7:30 PM IST

Where: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings, Sheikh Zayed Stadium,Abu Dhabi

Did you know?

- Mumbai Indians last won their opening match of an IPL season in 2012. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings, who are the traditional slow starters, have won their openings games both times since returning in 2018.

- Since 2013, Mumbai Indians are the only team to have a win-loss advantage over Chennai Super Kings, with Rohit Sharma’s team beating the MS Dhoni-led side 10 times in 16 encounters, including the finals of 2013, 2015 and 2019

Totals in the UAE don't usually turn out to be too big. The norm for the first innings of a T20 in Abu Dhabi over the last one-and-a-half years is less than 140

Super Kings' bowing attack relies heavily on early success. In fact, since 2018, they have picked up 56 wickets in the powerplay, the best among all teams. Chahar is responsible for 25 of them, again the best among all teams. Early wickets on slow pitches means Dhoni can control the game so much better with the spinners to follow. Question is, will that work against Mumbai, who have a hitter as dangerous as Hardik Pandya lurking as low as No. 6.

"The first game is always full of anxiety, nerves and excitement, and CSK-MI has added extra excitement and pressure and we enjoy that. We've earned the right to play the first game by playing well last year, and given the way the final finished last year, it's nice to have another crack at MI. They are a very good side and it gives you a good gauge as to how the pre-season has gone and the areas that need improvement. You get a good idea after the first game as to where your team is sitting," Stephen Fleming told CSK's website.

Squads:

Mumbai Indians Squad: Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Dhawal Kulkarni, Saurabh Tiwary, James Pattinson, Aditya Tare, Mitchell McClenaghan, Chris Lynn, Jayant Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, Anukul Roy, Mohsin Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Digvijay Deshmukh, Prince Balwant Rai

Chennai Super Kings Squad: Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni(w/c), Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir, Murali Vijay, Karn Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Lungi Ngidi, Monu Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Sam Curran, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, N Jagadeesan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KM Asif

Will some of the CSK squad need wheelchairs to get onto the pitch?

Frankly, many of them are old has-beens - good but past it. Still, I hope that they are able to thrash Ambani's Assholes.

Anyway we not see 50+ score everyother day 'cause Wrist Spinner will rule In next 53 days.

MI won last 5 games vs Old Giant of CSK but without MalinGa, Nohit, might Scratch his Butt in power play

Cock & Rohit open innings.
