2018 - the Year of the Bowler

Postby Paddles » Mon Nov 19, 2018 12:49 am

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes ... ;type=year

Just look at the bowling stats so far in 2018: For SA, Pak, India, WI, NZ, SL, Eng, Bangladesh - and then lastly - despite their media telling both Aussie cricket fans and us how great it is - Aus.

2018 has been the year of the bowler for most countries. Those numbers out of the WI clearly show how much WI have changed their pitches from spin wickets to seaming swingers.

Australian tests include 1 Aus test, 4 SA tests and 3 in the UAE. And SA and Pak - seem to be leading the stats overall for seam bowling.

Pak tour SA this summer - looks like it will be a shoot out and a half!

i agree. for test cricket more centuries and runs are made in 2017 than 2018 with similar trends seen in T20 and ODIs. perhaps Smith & Warner missing games made it look like bowler upper hand. 6 100s by Smith alone in 2017.

Warner and Smith have only missed 3 tests so far. This is a more global trend anyway.

More and more games have been set up into shoot outs with either green or dustbowl pitches.

Basically the only country doing the road thing right now is Australia. They have 3 tests before the end of the year, and Indian and Australian batsmen will look to cash in. But this has been a year for the bowlers.

Yes about 60 half century and 51 test century recorded in 2018

Kohli with 4 and Mominul 4(BD) really boost overall tally of centuries

Root ( leading every year) 6 score of 50 and Karunaratne and Johnny (eng) 5 each.

Yes but with Smith around it could be more.we have
So many test series before Dec 31 St
