unfair ICC

Postby Going South » Tue Mar 27, 2018 10:13 am

ICC did not punish Bancroft ???

why?

what was the reason given for giving no punishment ?

why only one match punishment given to Smith?

eye wash?

M Amir got 5 year ban for spot fixing no balls.

ICC can’t give even 5 match ban to ball tampering heros?

WTF.

How can you compare sanctions that are 17 years apart when they change the rules all the time and different people are running the ICC?

Harbhajan trying to appear morally correct. Jeez.

Remember the Sreesanth slapping incident. He also had that infamous altercation with Symonds at Sydney although IMHO he meant ' maaki ' (which meaning MF***er in English) rather than monkey (Symonds interpreted it as monkey, a racial insult).

Harbhajan was another short fuse. Not as bad as Warner, not that extreme, but short fuse, yes.

so?
if you are a criminal & you went to jail for 5 times and served time in jail for 3 months each.
Does that mean you can’t question another crime on someone NOT sent to jail for similar crime ??

No not saying that. Saying Harbhajan was not a saint either.

But Bancroft had to be banned no question. As Katto said, he is an adult. he could have refused to do it.

He would have paid with his place in the Aus side, but thats it.

I agree he should have been banned.

Nope, I just made a comment on Harbhajan trying to preach.

But Bancroft needed to be banned. He was the fall guy definitely. Whether under instructions or otherwise he committed the crime.

While I don’t necessarily subscribe to GS bias arguments I do think the ICC has been soft. We’re talking about pre planned leadership sanctioned cheating. I think Smith should struggle to get the captaincy back but no doubt after one test he will slide back in.

I’d draw the line at a ban for Bancroft because though he’s an adult and capable of independent thought he’s a junior team member being told what to do by the leadership that he respects. But he certainly should have lost his place and had to go back to the shield to regain it.

you guys talk of tendulkar in the same breath as that of “crooks” like smith or M Amir ? WTF.
OH. I SEE. you are jealous of Tendulkar greatness that’s why you bring him into all sorts of controversies to malign. not falling for that bait.

If Smith & Bancroft were Asian, ICC would be more tough in giving over-the-top punishment is my point.

tell me again, WHAT punishment is given to the main perpetrator of this #austrainscaughtcheating incident ?
nothing?
it’s been 3 days?
still nothing?
smith captaincy issue is internal to ACB don’t say now that ICC took away his captaincy ROFL.

Smith Bancroft and Warner have been sent home from the tour.

Unfortunately anything SA achieve on the field now will be looked at as only having been achieved because of the absence of these players. Conversely anything Aussie bowlers achieve will be seen as a result of cheating.

Smeared the whole series, this small group has.

so it’s 9 months ?

ICC sure bowed to international pressure.

i got mixed feelings on this, but I take it. better than nothing.

IMO Match fixing is a 3 times bigger offense than ball tampering.

Match fixing big thing than BALL TAMPERING
INZY/SRT/DRAVID/ plus so many others did ball tampering in the past .SRT told Dennis I just removes dirt from the ball but Dennis insist ball swings after SRT did with his nails on ball.

ESPNcricinfo created a rapsheet in the case against Lehmann and included his sanction for complaining about Marlon Samuels action
a few years later Samuels was suspended multiple times for illegal action

how is this a rap against Lehmann?

I doubt Smith is “allowed” to play English county cricket either.
if CA bans, BCCI & ECB follows to respect co-crooks.
Earlier when BCCI banned someone there are no takers.

As well as being forced to sit out all but club cricket during the next Australian summer, Smith and Warner have also lost £1.3m in earnings apiece after the BCCI barred them from taking up their respective deals at Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League this year.

County cricket could be one avenue for them – Bancroft is already signed to play for Somerset – although the England and Wales Cricket Board was seeking clarification from its Australian counterpart as to whether the three would be eligible under the terms of their suspensions.

Pakistani players played in the inaugural year of IPL. They have not been part of IPL for a different reason (terrorist attack by Pakistani terrorists in Mumbai in 2008 ) after which Indian public sentiment has been overwhelmingly against including Pakistani players in IPL. So the team owners have avoided selecting any Pakistani players since.

ICC has just followed the rules.
Ball-tampering is a level 2 offence - invites a 1-match ban.
Whether it should be taken more seriously is under discussion - but right now, this is how it is.
I suspect ICC will make punishment much harsher now - I'd be happy with that, as long as it applies the rules consistently to all players.

Right now, the individual Boards decide further action against players.
It is to CA's credit that they've given Smith & Warner a 1-year ban, and Bancroft 9 months.
Smith & Warner apparently lose Rs 20crores each as a result (not counting sponsorship-related losses).
That's roughly USD 3.3 million each.

Had this been BCCI, there's every reason to believe it would have tried to protect player earnings, while appearing to take action against them.

The biggest loser has been CA.
They've lost their Magellan Finance Group sponsorship because of breach of contract and it's cost them $20 million.

Sutherland may yet pay for that with his job.

oh shut up raja.
put a lid on your HATE for BCCI.
Talk about it when it happen in BCCI, don’t speculate your ILL-WISHES.
GO home and cry for your “my precious” “my precious” Steve-balltampering-Smith”.
We all know that You are a die-hard fan of Steve-Smith for many years.
It must have taken a toll on you.
Feel sorry, but don’t turn that anger from that betrayal towards BCCI. It’s unnecessary.
