Good idea, Paddles.

When match threads get archived, a lot of comments that deserve a longer life get archived too in the process.

Great, fancy starting the Indian Cricket thread then raja?

An obvious first topic would be Champions Trophy non - selections.
If any moderator or administrator is able to add Going South to my foe list, I would greatly appreciate it.

Paddles wrote:BGM and Mick, if you've seen my NZ cricket thread, and the one I just started for England, it would be great if you guys started an Australian one. It means possibly combining the domestic games and international team selection in the future thoughts outside of the live match threads, but it keeps debate and issues in one place and is more lasting than selection debates in a live thread which then get archived. Or you could keep the domestic threads separate, but I enjoy reading your updates and if they were in once place, more users may get the opportunity to read them in conjunction with your national team updates. The utility of such a thread is more apparent, when thinking where would a contribution about the new WA ground not being built in time for the 2017 Ashes test go, as it is a skinny topic at best for its own thread.

You can keep this thread going, as it is a discrete topic as such, or just contribute solely into an Australian thread of your choosing. Its all in your choosing. I'm not a moderator - so this isn't a direction or order, just a friendly request. But seeing you guys are the lead contributors of all things Australian cricket, it'd be great if you got involved with it and start it yourselves. If you leave me to start it - I may call it "The Home of Sledging - All things Cricket Australia". Your contributions are valued here, so you guys start the thread and choose the name yourselves. Should you do so, I look forward to both reading your contributions and participating in the thread.

I think they're more interested in rugby league and swimming

Speak for yourself not me Katto. Sound idea to me Paddles. If Mick agrees we should do that. I would call it Baggy Green: All things Australian Cricket [/b].Paddles being one of our Kiwi cuzzies could you do me a favor. Please change your avatar. I find it most distracting while I am typing. Even if she was nude i would feel the same way. If you think I am just a silly old fart.. ok but I had to tell you.

BGM - I am very fond of my avatar, and to be honest, this one is less distracting than the last. I have already acceded to a previous request to change my avatar.

In fact, Ms Upton has built up quite a collection of tributory gif images and you will see that my current avatar is very low on the distraction scale.

That said, I appreciate you find it distracting nevertheless. Personally I find her dancing avatars brighten my day. It is possible to scroll down so as to limit the distraction, leaving only my posts exposed to Kate's charms. You could always shift the window to the right to have Kate disappear off the edge of the screen.

perhaps you can get an ad blocker for your browser and block the image

this is what is known as a win win

note I'm inviting you to as a suggestion rather than ordering

It isn't an ad. He could manually add the precise url alone if the app permits, instead of just the root address, but if he is going to do that, he could just Network Allocation Table the IP address of the host website at the router to redirect from the original source, or prohibit the address being accessed; or far more simply just re-route the local dns and url resolution to a local 127.0.0.1 address on his local machine (host) and choose an image to his liking to be displayed in the alternative, which is better than an error message.

WTF are you on about
adblocker allows you to block an individual image a la carte

'an ad blocker" - generic

"adblocker" - specific

Katto, please refer to the bold parts in previous communications and the above version of English interpretation as against Katto-ish. Do you want him to get an adblocker that permits precise url blocking, or are you suggesting he download "adblocker"?

Either way, it would be best to re-direct the local dns to a local machine address manually instead of having more apps running or re-route/prohibit the address on the router unless he wants to block lots of advertising when browsing. I recommend the former.

either "AdBlock" or "AdBlock Plus" will do the job.

Paddles seems to be deliberately making it complicated because he knows no other way.

Yeh. A bit of a worry. Could the Aussies be going into the Ashes without their strongest side?

It was addressed to Katto and not written for you as a how-to guide. Indeed it is full of jargon, but gives enough information to find out how via searching should anyone be interested to upskilling themselves and learning both how to do it, and how port 1080 hypertext transfer protocol internet traffic (http) operates.

Information Technology isn't for everyone. But some people like to learn how stuff works, and how to do things more efficiently. Going South is the resident guru here, should you ever want technical assistance, I recommend that you ask him.
