Shashank Manohar Resigns as ICC Chairman

Postby Leo » Wed Mar 15, 2017 7:41 am

Shashank Manohar, the person chiefly responsible for trying to reduce the influence wielded by the Big Three, has resigned from his post as ICC chairman after only eight months in office.

Manohar was elected unopposed as the ICC's first independent chairman - one not affiliated to any of its member boards - in May 2016 for a two-year term and since then had led the effort to decentralise the power held by the BCCI, CA and ECB.

Any significant effect for world cricket? He tried to neutralize the power of ICC among all nation. Specially this line led the effort to decentralise the power held by the BCCI, CA and ECB

For reasons unknown, Shashank Manohar cut off his nose to spite BCCI. When he failed to get his way, he resigned to save his face. There is no way he can save his face. He has become an unwanted man in Indian cricket administration, so he can bid his cricket administration days goodbye.

Crooked Dalmia group must be behind it. They are pushing for Ganguly to be BCCI president god forbid.

I don't understand all this politics.

Today's paper said "Highly placed sources told TOI that Manohar was categorically told by BCCI officials that under no circumstances would BCCI allow the finance and governance models of the ICC to be changed in the prevailing circumstances".

Have no clue what that means but apparently there are some reforms that ICC wants to propose and which BCCI will stymie.

Manohar probably realised he'd be able to do nothing - and decided to quit.
