INDIA CRICKET NEWS

Grade A+ (INR 7 Cr): Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah

Grade A (INR 5 Cr): R Ashwin, Ra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant

Grade B (INR 3 Cr): KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya

Grade C (INR 1 Cr): Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Hanuma Vihari, Khaleel Ahmed, Wriddhiman Saha

Jadeja unlucky not to be A+ given he goes on most test and limited overs tours. Bit harsh that Pujara is not in A+ neither if even just tests - he's critical to the Indian test team.

I see Krunal Pandya totally missing out again... Yet Pandey and Khaleel get paid.

Pandey getting a contract is a bot of a joke. Strong msg sent to Hardik to start performing better too given he is a multi format player. Also - where is Vijay Sankhar? He shouldn't have missed out altogether. Especially not to Pandey.

Manish Pandey's contract is worth more than Ross Taylor's, Martin Guptill's and about the same as Kane Williamson's.

Jadeja sure showed today that he is not cut to be a man that can be relied on. He is forever a passenger that go through motions when it comes to batting. All of us give too much credit to his batting than he deserve.

Nah - he won you the last game with his Kohli partnership - and you if but maybe Chahal would have bowled better in this one...

It's 1-1 at best as far as I am concerned. Let the debate rage, it will, all the media will be over it... but you lost England with Chahal cos your batting was too short... we all know this...

Q) When was the last time jadeja contributed for win with a decisive score from him?
A) 1 in last 40 outings

Q)How many times he failed when he was need to stand and deliver ?
A) 39 times out of 40

Verdict: Passenger aka excess baggage

The biggest passenger is Rayudu. He has performed just once in crisis situation (in New Zealand once), otherwise he is a walking wicket.

Lol - pretty sure he was in a 67 run partnership with Kohli in game 2.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1905 ... nd-2018-19

You only see him scoring 21 runs. I saw him take the score from 6/171 to 7/238.

And that's the point. It's not just the runs he scores, its the fact he can preserve his wicket and give the superior batsman a partner.

You don't need to agree with me. But you lose that game with Chahal batting imo.

Jadeja doesn't need to score match winning 50's, he needs to give Sharma and Kohli a partner in the back end after your middle has collapsed again... Cos the partnership runs are so much more than Chahal will save you in wickets most times.

It’s not a test match where standing there scoring NOTHING won you matches. Duh!

You call it a PARASITE if you depend on someone else to score in a limited overs match.

I don't know what any of this is meant to mean.

6/171 to 7/238. Facts.

It is what it is. Partnerships make runs. Once the tail folds - there's less runs to be had.

It's that simple.

It's not simply how many more runs does one player score than the other - but what it the partnership result of those runs?

And that's what matters - esp last bat before the weakest of tails...

That’s awesome.
I would like to see more of mixed doubles style cricket. There should not be any gender discrimination

I think it’s too early and there is lot of cricket left in these play. Why hurry? You need to put a rule of giving only retired players a life time achievement award. Life time is not over yet! Duh!

My thoughts exactly. Wait till they are retired.

BTW, what's the news with Jadhav? Is he fit or not to play? If that is doubtful, IMO he should be replaced now so that the other player is physically and psychologically ready bu the time the tournament starts in earnest. I does not have to be Pant - in fact I don't think that would be a straight swap. Manish Pandey might be a consideration now that he is coming back into form.

The latest gen from BCCI suggests that they are not absolutely certain that Jadhav will be fit. They have set the day of departure, May 22nd, as the deadline. One of the replacements talked about is Rayudu but I don't think that is a good idea.

Despite his proneness to injury and iffy recent form, Jadhav is a physically and mentally tough and calm character who can be part of a fightback when needed. He is an ideal #6 batsman and is good while batting with tailenders. Far less likely than Rayudu to buckle under pressure. And of course, he can bowl a bit.

I don't like Rayudu. All his posturing and cockiness is a cover for weakness in his character and he is the last person I would trust to keep his head under pressure. Also, he is more used to batting at #4 and not ideal for a fightback. Of course, he is a non-entity as a bowler.

Most importantly, while both men have played 50+ ODIs and average in the mid 40s, Rayudu's strike rate of 79 in ODIs compares very unfavourably with Jadhav's 102.

Rayudu is rubbish.
It looks like very good batting wickets in England this time - so teams will comfortably get 350+.
Rayudu, with his 70 off 110 will be a liability, if he crosses 10.
And if he doesn't, what is the point in picking him anyway?

I would not call Rayudu as "rubbish" but he is not above mediocrity and never will be. He is one of those players who will occasionally do well in domestic circuits but he is definitely not someone who can be relied upon at high pressure international levels. IMO, he should have been left alone in the domestic circuit and not brought into the international level.

i think rayudu did the right thing on retirements
because BCCI announced " Pant and Rayudu will be replace if someone injured from 15 member wc team"

on Dhawan's injury bcci called Pant but when Shankar returned to india with toe injury ,Mayank was told to joins team.
