I think my favourite quotation of his from memory was:

It's been a while since I listened to TMS.
Ever since England started doing well, it's not been fun anymore. :-)
But Blowers was always fun to listen to.
In the middle of describing a delivery, he'd go off into all sorts of topics, like the pigeon on someone's roof.
Often, when Cook and Trott were batting, that was the highlight of the cricket.

This news item reminds me of a similar news item that I read in Indian weekly sports magazine "Sportsweek" in 1974. It was about Jim Swanton retiring from TMS after some four decades. He was to TMS in 1970s what Henry Blofeld was now a days.
