maybe the difference today was a wicketkeeper who lost his nerves after the 8th over (Usman's 19 runs), thus creating unnecessary extra pressure

amazing ...Pakistan had a clear edge before the game, one more rest day, plus they have far more games under the belt on this (their de facto home) pitch

Pandya is out of the Cup with injury.

He had to be stretchered off the field.

Looks like a serious lower back injury.

List of walking wounded.

It is difficult for India to piece together a 11 with half the side out.

whom have AFG not beaten in ODIs so far? they beat IRE (easily, I would add), NL, SL, WI (or was that in the T20s?), BAN, ZIM.On my virtual list they are no.7 in the world of ODIs (merely on form). Given that AFG cricket 15 years ago was slowly coming into existence, this is an amazing achievement.

I am becoming a fan of this Afghan team.

Only would like to see a little diversity so that game spreads to all sections.

Currently , all members in the team are Pathans / Pashtuns who form about 45 % of Afghanistan population and are the dominant community.

With the spread of the game, some participation will come from other sections like Tajiks (27 %), Shia Hazaras (10 %), Uzbeks (10 %) etc.

Right now, team is doing exceedingly well and wish them all the best.

what a cracker of a match. You could not tell which was the team with a World Cup and a Champion's Trophy under their belt. The boys in blue will have a topic to talk about in the dressing room: what do our batsmen do in the 50th over of our innings, when one of them is closing down on a century.....We will never know what would ve happened, if AFG had had 3 runs more on the board. but take noting away from Malik who was classy and calm till the end. They are a funny team, you know? Sarfraz about to eat his cap while nervously looking on, but they might repeat the heist from the CT.

Good Luck Bangladesh. You really need luck now. But, luck is always made by yourself. Hope you can prove something.

For India Pakistan; dont know who actually need wish. All the best to both the teams :)

What a game it was yesterday.

Pakistan are an average side - their batsmen lack temperament, they play too many risky shots.
Their bowling, otherwise high-quality, lacks bite in these conditions.

Their fielding was poor too.

The one exception was Shoiab Malik, who really batted well.

It was only after his dismissal that BCCI got back strongly into the game.

BCCI's batting was a breeze.

Rohit is a delight to watch in these conditions, where Aamir is neutralised.

And Dhawan is a bully in any conditions where the ball does not swing. :-)

FWIW, Rayudu has not impressed me one bit so far in this tournament.

I like the guy - but he's been anything but fluent so far.

If he wants me to continue to support him, he'll have to do something special in the remaining games.

given the way the match went India can be happy that they did not lose. Dhoni batted at the wrong position, the team wants him to get to 10k ODI runs for India, ok, but he has lost his way w spin. He should have been the classical finisher to tonk it around when the bowlers are tired. Nonetheless, without his 2 classy stumpings India would have had to chase 280 maybe. India's lower order still can't do it. Who asked for that 3rd run be4 the Kuldeep run out?? Please no Kaul any more, not only was he expensive, but he also got out in the cheapest of manners, not able to ground his bat properly.Take nothing away, they have showed that they belong truly and genuinely in the family of the world's top teams.

Dhoni? Uhmm lol. Best laugh in world cricket since 2011 world cup myth. Gambhir won India that game. Gambhir!

Dhoni was great in 2008/9 - but mythical since really.

Put him with Bevan in the overated average column.

Totally agree. Dhoni started going downhill in batting since 2008 odd...

It was Gambhir who actually won India the 2011 WC along with Yuvraj. Dhoni played only 1 critical knock in the finals.

Ganguly's trajectory as a batsman was similar, after becoming captain it progressively went downhill. Steep downward curve.

Wonderful match yesterday.
I watched the Afghanistan innings, then switched off when I saw a big opening partnership coming up from BCCI.
It was only when I realised that Afg had a chance of winning (when Karthik got out), that I decided to watch it again. :-)

Afghanistan were excellent, given their very limited exposure to this level of cricket.

The way their fielders threw themselves at the ball, the accuracy in their throws (resulting in run-outs) - such a delight to watch.

Was also impressed by their batting and bowling - they got 250+ in almost every game of this tournament?

Their batsmen seem to have been trained in playing with proper technique - which, to be honest, is great for the longest format, but can be a liability in the limited-overs format, where you need to improvise, and very importantly, find the gaps.

Case in point: Gulbadin Naib. Very "correct" batting, but his 15 runs came with an SR of just 32!

In the first game, Rahmat also batted very correctly - some of his shots even reminded me of Dravid.

All in all, I've become a big Afg fan now. :-)

Was rooting for them all the way yesterday.

Where's AK? Congrats to him for the performance of his countrymen.

Afg are officially the nuetral's favourite. More so than Aravinda's Sri Lanka.

Rixon said that Initial plan was to travel for World Cup 2019 but the PCB’s behavior behavior made him angry. So, resigned.

am most amazed....at this Pakistani cricket team in this tournament: Played badly against India, twice, somehow, thru AFG inexperience (plus SL's early exit), still had the chance to get to the finals, their bowlers paved the way to chase a more than gettable score.....and then they manage to bottle up even such a game....at that w JK on fire and rested they might ve had a chance to upset India big time. But credit to BAN, a team without 2 of their absolute star players, but Mushi's knock was vital, as was Shahzad's yesterday.

Bangladesh knock Pakistan out of the Asia Cup. Wow ! Howzzat.

Pak were lucky to beat even Afg. The match was close. India rested 4-5 players against Afg like Bhuvi, Bumrah, Dhawan, Rohit.

All will be back for the final and most likely will be favourite.

The backup for Pandya who has been ruled out is quite poor. I am referring to Chahar. Kaul is also underperforming.

Was looking forward to Pakistan thrashing BCCI in the final.
Guess I'll now have to pin my hopes on Bangladesh doing the same.
Looks unlikely though.

Pakistan has been below-par all tournament.
Their batsmen lack application.
Their bowlers got no assistance from the wicket.
And, unlike BCCI which got its matches scheduled in Dubai, poor Pakistani players were shunted around.
