Ok, one disclosure I voted for South Africa in above poll as to who I thought would win,not necessarily who I wanted to win.

Both matches could have gone either way but India's poor batting and fielding sealed it.

Just checked his profile - I see he's already played 3 T20Is - just shows how little I keep track of T20Is.

"A tall, imposing paceman, Lungi Ngidi can reach speeds in the 140s kph and is as comfortable opening the bowling as he is at the death, making him one of South Africa's most promising limited-overs prospects."

Come on, Lungi. :-)

We have our own Lungi.I expect Ngidi to do well.Indian batsmen normally struggle against quick bowlers they haven't played against.

That's the reason he was picked over Morris.

Ngidi indeed was the matchwinner.

Did you see Cullinan ripping apart Kohli/team mgmt for their poor preparation for this tour?

If you voted for SA and not BCCI, I wonder who voted for BCCI.
How did they manage 5 votes?

Any reason there's such a long gap between Centurion and Joburg?
Centurion started on 13th, this starts on 24th.

BCCI win toss, elect to bat.
Rahane in for Rohit, Bhuvi for Ashwin.
Andile Phehlukwayo in for Maharaj.

Enjoyed watching the day's play.
I'd say this was a sub-par performance from South Africa - and even then BCCI couldn't get more than 187.
SA dropped catches, they were generally sloppy.
Kohli should have gone when he was 11.
SA didn't review a not-out decision of Pujara early in his innings.
Rahane was dismissed off a no-ball.

Had SA been at their normal level, let alone raised their game above it, BCCI would've struggled to get to 100.
As it is, they owe it to Bhuvi that they even got this far.
At 144/7, SA could've wrapped it up in a couple of overs - Bhuvi had other ideas.

The shot that Hardik Pandya played, and got dismissed on, was a shocker.
Am wondering whether that 93 has got into this head.
Everyone hyped it up like crazy, conveniently forgetting that he should have been out at 15.

He's had a poor series with the bat, like Vijay, Rahul, Pujara, Rohit, practically everyone.

At least Pujara played responsibly today - was a bit surprised when he got out.

Kohli and Pujara scored fifties, Pujara best batsman today. Bhuvi again a good trier. Whoever took the decision to drop him from second test need to get their head examined.

Bhuvi bowled beautifully at the end there.
Such a delight to watch him moving the ball, away and into the batsman.
Elgar struggled - just about managed to hang in there.

Let's see how Pandya goes with the ball - he's supposed to be a bowling all-rounder, right?

I think he'll do well against average attacks, or in subcontinental conditions. But if he's going to be picked against quality attacks like South Africa in their lair, I'd expect more from him as a bowler. Any runs in that case would be a bonus.

Right now, I'm a bit confused - maybe because he impressed with the bat first.

Jury still out on Bumrah as a Test bowler, yes.
Especially since there are other options - Umesh is sitting out.

Was an interesting but slow day. Will the drop catches that cost 50 runs come back to haunt SA on this wicket. Amla is due though (but as i said before i think his eyes are giving in) and so is De Kock. Going to be an awesome day today if the rain stays away

In tests - Pandya is very much a batting all rounder imo.

I am surprised that Kohli chose to bat after packing his side with fast medium bowlers on a green top.

Another of his decisions that confounds me.

So many near-misses, and oohs and aahs this morning - but bottom line, only the one wicket has fallen today.
Rabada, as night-watchman, seems to be a pretty decent bat - doesn't throw his bat at everything (Hardik, you listening?)

Memories of Wasim Bari at Lahore, 1978.
India vs Pak.
He came in as night-watchman, with 1 wicket down.
The next morning he tortured the Indian bowlers - scored 85.

Only a few months earlier,at Perth, Tony Mann had come in as night-watchman (Aus vs India 1977-78) and got a hundred - the first night-watchman to get a hundred in Tests. It was a crucial match-winning knock.

What's it with BCCI and night-watchmen?

Amla was out in my opinion.

That umpire's call saved him.

Umpires call is very controversial in this DRS mechanism.

That was OUT! If it was reviewed, Virat Kohli drops his head after seeing it on the big screen ABD survives, Ishant once again creating the chances for LBW for India. SA 82/3

34.4
1lb
Kumar to Amla, 1 leg bye, huge appeal for lbw and Bhuvi is absolutely insistent on the review. A good length ball pins Amla fairly high on the pad as he plays the flick, while he is shuffling across. Impact is in front of off stump. He's playing from the crease... Hmm, umpire's call on height again? Yep. Umpire Gould rules it not out. and that's the second time Amla's got away in this way.

Amla aint a pleasure to watch. But its not how you look making runs that matters on the scoreboard.

I'm going to spare a thought for Bolero. Absolutely adamant that Bhuvi ought to play the last test, and has been proven totally right. With both bat and ball.

Not really controversial imo. The controversy on umpire's call used to be around the reviewing team losing their review, now that is not the case, drs lacks controversy in cricket countries I follow.

After a few years of it, even with my own team playing, it just becomes a non-event missing out on umpire's call.

I notice several Australian fans seem to get more peeved with the umpires for not being "brave" enough at first instance to give a decision that ends up as umpires call on DRS. But that's less about DRS and more about the on field umpire.

Very well done, BCCI.
Made it a 1-innings game.
And with SA carrying the "chokers" tag burden, I think we can say it is now 55-45 BCCI.

Bumrah did really well - happy for him.
And a shoutout for Parthiv. I've long been a critic of his keeping - and will continue to be critical of him whenever he slips up - but today he was really good. That last catch to dismiss Lungi was very impressive.

I think if BCCI can ensure they don't screw up with their batting now, set 200-220 for SA, that might be enough.

I really don't rate this SA side's batting.

Even AB isn't the force he once was.
Amla, inspite of his first-innings half century, didn't convince me one bit.

I think the BCCI players are also now charged up.
They've sensed their moment might have come - need to be sensible and not throw it away.

Well done, boys.
I'd say 60-40 BCCI.

I think kohli amla Root and Smith would be the batsman I’d most enjoy settling down to watch at the moment. All very skilled but also positive and always scoring or just very graceful in the case of amla.

Not actually seen Williamson recently enough to picture how easy he is on the eyes.

Bell in full flow was something to watch but he’s gone now.

Watching currently haven’t seen any evidence of what you say.

Rahane inclusionists must be happy, meanwhile
