Will England give hitherto unpicked players a chance?

Some people might think that now the ashes are lost England might put less pressure on themselves and play more freely, show some spirit. But I think the whole “Australia are better than England” thing is probably a more potent factor and England are going to be steamrolled flat.

Cricinfo have suggested Crane may be in for a debut. Clearly England have given up

Is he that bad? Mo has been a passenger. Time to make a change in any case.

FC average of 40+? Inadequate for a front line spinner IMO either Mo or Crane. But Ali as a batsman who bowls a bit it was slightly more tolerable. If you pick Crane you’re only picking him for his bowling and his bowling is shite.

From what I’ve seen of him, Leach can actually bowl. Sure CA got after him in the Perth warm up but they caned Crane as well. If you said right which one out of the three is a proper bowler then surely it would be Leach. Don’t understand what he’s done wrong? It’s a mystery what Crane is actually there for?

Paine will be big miss for Melbourne Test : he is out of 4th Test with personal reason.( Stroke to his in-laws) Paine surely missed with 15 catches and one stumping in 3 tests so far.he is good with 44 average with bat.

I am not sure but M.Starc too facing some injury issue probably J.Bird will play if MS not available,Eng.lost the series.

Paine is back with the squad and is a certainty to take the gloves on Boxing Day. Starc, on the other hand is a 50/50 chance of playing.. Cummins has advised rest as he had a similar heel injury and as it was not well managed he was out for four months...

Starc is officially out of the 4th Test, Bird will take his place, Sayers 12th man.

England's tailenders jumping for joy.

I'm not sure Jackson Bird is quick enough to get much out of the benign MCG deck. Hope I'm wrong.
Expect Cummins to take the new ball which may see a better return for him.

If England had a decent Spinner who spun the ball away from the RH with a quality opening pace attack, Stokes as 3rd Seamer Then Ali would make a very good 5th Bowling option and lengthens the Batting as well, the they would have a very good attack.

They've tried this with leggie Rashid in Asia - he's just not upto it.

Law 31.6 - benefit of the doubt for an dismissal appeal goes to the batsman
A third umpire call for a run out or stumping is a referral, not a review.

Anyway probably Rajah or Bolero deletes thread for WORLD CUP UNDER 19 in NZ, too early probably,
I worked really hard to assembles Group wise plus full details. I think every country showing live except
Kenya on tv from January 13

I think jack leach deserves a punt. If he got the best stats in English county cricket for spinning then that suggests he’s amongst the best options to pick. If crane was better than him then would have comparable stats. It’s not rocket science. Yes I know grounds and conditions affect returns, and sometimes selectors just see something in a bowler that they like. But that maybe accommodates a couple of runs difference in average. Not the different between 28 and fecking 42+

Without their key strike bowler Starc, and with ace quick Curran now in for England, no way is Australia going to be able to save this MCG Test.
3-1.

Curran impressed me in game against the CAX1. Like the way he targets the stumps. Can hold a bat as well. A good addition. Another Saffer born player.

Bancroft needs to be looking to score more now. Has faced enuff balls.
