Shorty PM'd me about joining another forum but it was pretty average.

Been away myself nice to be back.

Maybe Ted Ward will write a few of his stories for us again.

Yeah, yeah. What was your ID then ? Roy ?

There was a Roy an Aussie but I was Gabbadan.

Adelaide since 2015 is a different proposition to all those years before due to a night session and grass on pitch to protect pink ball. Wickets have tumbled.

It was still a good batting wicket with less grass on the pitch than the year before for the day sessions last year, tho.

it still regularly produced results before 2015

meanwhile Perth and MCG have turned into bore draw factories

Second Ashes Test- the PINKIE.

Postby baggygreenmania » Fri Dec 01, 2017 4:26 am

Adelaide Oval plays host tomorrow to the Second Ashes Test- the annual "pink test" under lites. England were reeling after the Aussies suffocating 10 wicket win in the first encounter. Can Joe and his boys bounce back? I think they will as that Brit bulldog spirit is legendary. I see James Anderson making life more difficult for the Baggy Greens batting lineup when he is allowed to operate in swinging twilite conditions. The Poms must extract Steve Smith early.. this must be their number one priority. Baggies to win in a close one. Guys I only started a new 2nd Test thread as I did not see this thread.

Thanks maybe compared to fellow Aussies Roy and Verity at the time :)

A bit of a secret for you.

I had Carl Rackemann and Alvin Kallicharan staying at our house but at different times and they both posted for fun two or three times.

Alvin replied to raja without his knowing who it was in one post I remember.

Alvin really liked the forum and read it bigtime.

Wow. Fan of both Kallicharan and Rackemann. Saw a few old videos of both. Kallicharan , known name among cricket lovers in India, especially those following cricket in the 70's.

Alvin a nicer man you will never meet.He is a friend of Dad from way back and was Queensland's Sheffield import player.

Maybe I will throw in a Viv Richards story later on and Botham as well.

Alvin is still promoting world cricket and is based in the US.

Yup. Then there was VFE. God knows where they are.

There was one Leo (not to be confused with current Leo). The earlier Leo was a terror.

VFE cut his own throat in the end I believe.Had good knowledge but strong opinions not always right.

Never did see the posts that finally got him the chop but got a whisper via PM that he went way too far.

Sometimes you need a character with strong opinions as long as they are well founded.

Katto comes closest IMO currently.

The forecast has improved dramatically for tomorrows test with weather clearing.

Good news as I am looking forward to a full game.

Current weather forecast.

Looks good and remember guys this is a day nighter test so set your schedules to suit.

Max 20 Shower or two.Possible rainfall: 0 to 1 mmChance of any rain: 50%
Adelaide area

Cloudy. Medium (40%) chance of showers, more likely about the hills. Winds southerly 20 to 30 km/h, increasing to 30 to 40 km/h in the afternoon.

The maximum one ml wouldn't fill a thimble.

Bit windy Katto may know if this affects the new Stadium.

The cooler Adelaide weather for this Test will suit the pacemen. Will also suit the Poms. Was hoping for sweltering conditions. Mid chance of showers for first three days.

Will this rain break juice up the deck? Looks a good toss to lose so far. But Root has factored in bowling first under lites. Reason he sent us in. That can be a decided advantage.

Just to add a bit to the nostalgia comments on this thread - will just say we've had many interesting characters, each adding his (and the occasional her) flavour to the forum. Been here 12-and-a-half years now, starting with that disastrous 2005 summer when we were cheated.

Looking back, despite the odd difference of opinion, I think I got along with practically everyone here. Heck, I even get along with Misty! :-)

Anyone who makes runs against England will survive several 'half-shouts' for lbw...especially when you have Anderson and Broad bowling :lmao:

Well khawaja has gone for 53 to Jimmy but smith ticks on with 40 so far. Australia’s day so far.

Jimmy and Broad are very economical but six successfully negotiated deliveries without losing your wicket is an over won by Australia and the hosts are coming out of the new ball attack unscathed. Something England failed to do against South Africa.

IMO its been England's day, even though they've bowled poorly, 163/4 is a good score for the bowling side on what seems like a belter of a wicket

the weather conditions, rain delays, on again off again has probably been to the detriment of the batsmen. I'd rather bowl in these conditions than bat, despite what all the comms are saying.
