The India A side will play five one-day games against New Zealand A in Vizag, after the completion of the ongoing four-day game in Vijaywada, while the Board President’s XI will engage against New Zealand in two warm-up matches in Mumbai, ahead of their ODI series.

Shreyas Iyer, who plays domestic cricket for Mumbai, will lead both India A and the Board President’s XI team in the matches.

BCCI replaces Deepak Chahar with brother Rahul

NEW DELHI: In what turned out to be comedy of errors, the BCCI first named Rajasthan medium pacer Deepak Chahar in the Board President's XI squad for the warm-up games against New Zealand only to replace him with cousin brother Rahul, who is a leg-spinner.
The BCCI had on Monday sent a release which had Deepak's name in the BP XI squad, which raised a lot of eyebrows considering he had no performance to merit a place in the squad.
It was later realised that the selectors wanted to pick Rahul, who is a current India U-19 player and also did well during the recent Colts tour to England.
However it is understood that they goofed up with the name which led to the clerical error.

"It was inadvertently mentioned that Deepak Chahar would represent the Board President's XI team for the warm-up matches against New Zealand ahead of their ODI series against India. Rahul Chahar will feature in the squad that will play two matches at CCI in Mumbai," BCCI on Tuesday admitted the error in a media release.

Shardul Thakur, one of my favourites has been selected in the Indian squad. Dinesh Karthik makes a comeback. Umesh, Shami, Ashwin, Jadeja not selected.

yet another home series for BCCI

NZ will probably win more than Australia on account of BCCI players being tired and bored with this endless home season

I would love to know what Niccolls has on the selectors to keep getting selected in NZ teams.

At last we have a batsman at 6 - only for it to be him. He does a useful sweep shot so maybe he wont be a total train wreck in India - until they find out he only sweeps and cuts well.

On the bright side CDG is being given sole 5th bowler duties, but Southee ahead of Sodhi as 2nd spinner looks a costly error.

Southee's career is in jeopardy despite Mitch's retirement from intls, Bennet, Kuggeleijn, Henry and few Canterbury seamers like Jamieson and Nuttall are on their way through. Ferguson also has Milne like pace albeit without the radar.

Santner drops a sitter off CDG offered up by Kohli on 29 - India would have been 89/4.

CDG literally throwing up on the field during his 4th over.

#onlyinasia

Maybe a reaction to Santner dropping Kohli off his nowling?

Milne is bowling in the low and mid 130's.

Kohli looks in total control now with an uppishly hooked 6 and a straight drive 4 and brings up his 50 off 62 balls.

Karthik is coasting along without creating a stir 27(31).

I hope the coaches tell Milne that if he wants short at 130km/h that intl cricket is not for him as a Blk Cap.

As a Milne fan - I'm very dissapointed by this.

Santner has had another good day bowling, but dropping Kohli has gone a long way to losing this game. Boult outstanding, just outstanding (4/35). But needs more support.

Southee improved with his second spell and Munro and an injured CDG got through their overs.

Southee finishing like he started with a bunch of pies.

Really don't think he will get through this summer without getting dropped again, possibly for a long time unless he remembers his role, swing and yorkers - not short pies.

Munro 28(35) and 7 overs at well under 6s as an emergency 6th bowler.

Solid if unspectacular day at the office for him. Nice to see no 1st ball switch hits while opening.

NZ 52-1 after 10 chasing 281 off 50.

I like Dinesh Karthik but I do find it strange that he manages to get a place in this ODI side - with Dhoni as keeper.
There must be many younger players fighting for that one middle order spot which Karthik has been given.
He's 32 - is he part of the planning for the next World Cup?
If yes, is he really THAT good? He's probably better than Rahane but that isn't saying much.
if no, why is he playing today?

Sad that a guy as talented as KL Rahul didn't get into this ODI squad.
Even Ganguly feels Rahul got a raw deal.

I like both Karthik and Rahul both but Kohli has said he wants Rahul to keep focussed as an opener - where he is currently #4 behind Shikar, Rohit and Rahane.

Latham looks much more comfortable in the middle order rather than opening and facing the new ball. Prefer him here at 5 to Broom any day.

Even as opener, I rate Rahul the best of the 4.
Rohit is a minnow-basher, Rahane is too slow and Dhawan is too inconsistent
But my rating counts for nothing.

Dhawan's not the most talented and in no danger of being called graceful, but he's been having a bloody good year, at a decent clip with plenty of big scores. He's in form and very effective. I like to think Rohit is better than a minnow basher, but you may be right, but Rahul has to dislodge one of these 2 before Trahanes slow SR makes a difference to the XI

Latham is putting on a how to play spin with paddles, sweeps and reverse sweeps clinic now. Such a pleasure as a NZC fan to see Latham on top of his game.

And he goes down with cramp as I type this.

Well this looks like Latham at 5 could well be a success. Now to get him there in tests instead of being the first cheap wicket to fall to the new ball so often.

That 6 was very significant to me as indicative that Latham has not been realising his potential for boundary hitting previously or has been developing his game further. Very impressive drop kick albeit a small ground.

Good performances by several NZC players in this game.

Latham, Rossco, Boult and Santner (bar his Kohli drop) were superb.

Munro proved his value as a 6th bowler by bowling 7 overs at under 5.5 and making a useful high 20s score (after recent opener experiences - I'll take this for now).

Milne and Southee disapointed me but it would be resmiss to judge CDG harshly given he got ill and had Kohli's wicket dropped.

India becomes overconfident after beating Australia in ODI Series. Indian Cricket team will need to do hard work to win ODI Series against New Zeland. New Zeland needs to win a Single match between 2 Matches to win the series.

BCCI got complacent and accommodated far too many passengers in the team. It is good that their bowling and batting got exposed in this match.

Latham now averages over 86 in India compared to just 22 in NZ and has 4 50 plus scores (Ind, Bang x2 and Irish attacks), I'm unaware of NZ record for continuous 50 plus scores but he ought to be close.

Great opportunity for Niccolls to prove me wrong and repay the selector's faith in him.

NZ 70/4 - India looking for its 50th odi win over NZ - 49/44 - with 1 tie and several dnf.

Interestingly Indias odi history is very ordinary - of teams they have played 100 matches against: still losing overall to the Windies and a mile behind Pakistan and Australia with only positive overall to SL and NZ. I thought they'd have pipped WI by now.

Nicolls is staying in but his SR 33(50) on a flat pitch is a concern. This ground averages scores well over 300.

de Grandhomme 23(20) has a chance here to help seal his a/r berth from Anderson and Needham.

Niccolls just launched his cut through the covers. For an ordinary player - his cut shot (esp in front of square) is impressive.

CDG 32(24) batting effortlessly bringing back memories of CCairns. Now if he could just bowl 20ks faster...

Niccolls out to playing a straight drive. Bat was straight - body angled to the covers, leg stump out of the ground- he looks awful whenever he attempts that shot. If I were bowling to him - I'd just keep it straight all the time. He's awful to straightish bowling from seamers.

NZ 165/6 and it looks like an early finish unless the tail wags.

Well if the commentary today and Katto's article is to be believed - NZ is over 100 runs below par. But I may stay up just in case Boult n Southee get some movement.

On the bright side, Gup and KW are due next match. Sad thing is I am so used to NZ's middle failing this year - its not often the problem has been at the top.

Milne's bowling faster today at 135-138 with a 141 peak but still a far cry to the 150k+ peak spells that got ablnd kept him in the team.

Pitch looks flat - easy win to India here it seems unless CDG can find some movement.

Just saw a little bit of this match. NZ are a great fielding side. Indian middle order looks wobbly, there is no stability. Jadhav not coming to bat at no 6 also, imagine what that does to his confidence. He is picked as a batsman.

India have a lot of bits and pieces cricketers now.

Jadhav - batsman who can bowl.
Pandya - Bowler who can bat.
KKD Karthik - ODI specialist.
Axar- Bowler who can bat.
