So what are englands strengths? What are their weaknesses?

Strong batsman at position one and position four. Strong engine room in the lower middle order. Long tail. Youthful exuberant captain. Experienced opening bowling pair. One of the best all rounders in the current game. A spin bowling all rounder who can be a game changer.

Weaknesses? Completely unknown and unsettled number two three and five. No stability in top five. Long term inability to find another opener. Aging opening bowler. No settled first change bowler though promising third seamer. Spinning all rounder mercurial and untried outside England. Main all rounder a weaker bowler than batsman. Noticeably weaker outside of England. Vulnerable to collapse against good attacks and lack of ability to grind out hard runs other than cook.

Seem fair?

Two days to go. Saw a news article suggesting Gayle was coming back but turns out it was talking about the one day games.

I'd pay to watch Gayle play a test match. Underrated test match player I think.

Meanwhile, I'm half prepared - given the slashing West Indies have gotten in the media and by people like Vaughan - for England to mess up this second test. It would just fit perfectly in the endless pattern of knee jerk reactionary media stories that follow our cricket team around. England win: the opppsition are shit and the series is a joke. Then England lose: see? we told you England were shit!

Malan is still a weakness. Doesn't seem to have that spunk about him really. And we've no established opener until hameed come back.

I hope Jimmy can milk these tests to get close to 500 wickets

Imagine if he hadn't been fucked by coaches since debut in 2004? He could have had nearly 600 wickets by now

He is better than Duckett because Malan's ability to occupied crease favors him for over seas tour more likely.

Dislike the dropping of TRJ but woakes was going to come back in so someone had to go.

Personally I say drop Malan and have four seamers and two all rounders but that's just me wanting to be inclusive it probably wouldn't work against a top team

MALAN had a sound partnership other day, they not drops him because you have Prejudice vs him. I wish Westley can reach 100 in next 3 innings, Anyway ECB give chance new player for NO MORE THAN 7 TEST,LIMIT.If not impressive Wesley will joins DUCKETTS in county cricket

How is weather? Some mixed weather coming up I guess.

#Last time WI vs EnG playing here,KP alone hits 226,while WI fold for 141 and 146

# Root need one more score of 50 to Equal ABDV in 12 scores of 50 in Successive test.

#Anderson need 8 wickets more to reach milestone of 500 test wickets.

I do not agree with Botham about too many run on this wicket ball doing lot here typical juicy headingley for fast bowlers

Now Roach gets Westley LBW for 3
39 for 2 in the first test
26 for 2 now with Cook gone

Now Roach produced great delivery to removed England's MS : I THINK he stuck at 19 for long time which was the reason he fall

Malan in in the 16 th over 38 for 3
Last 365 days 7th time ENG lost 3 wickets in first 15 overs

And Root was dropped on 8!

It's these inconsistencies in ability amongst our batting line up that makes us a weaker, middle-of-the-pack-at-best team, raja

England four down now. Only root making runs as he reaches the low forties. Aim for that 50+ record Joe!

Stokes at the other end.

So ashes will be interesting 'cause aus.too have their own weakness, but all depends on fitness of MS.

I wonder why English supporter not here when root dismissed vs spinner Bishoo.

congratulations for the World record Root now Shares with Cricket God of SOA --ABDV.

12 successive scores of 50 in 12 Successive test, simply Amazing concentration apart from that drop catch, its okayed, its part of game.

Change always better, its not easy to do that though. Some Indian spinners playing county cricket, benefited to re-Shapes career of Chahal/Patel, here too,Gabriel/Bishoo did wonderful job.

152 for 6 but Johnny (2 runs) gone by Ground umpire.confirmed by 3rd umpire as well

England only have 3 batsmen in the top 6

If they're going to be any chance in Australia they'll need to move Bairstow and Ali into the top 6..right now they're using them as luxuries when they only have 3 better batsmen

Quite agree. Stokes can take runs off any attack albeit without great consistency. Root Cook and bairstow are solid (or better) batsmen but the chasm between them and the other three batsmen is staggering.

Likewise the bowling is broad and Jimmy and A.N Other.

Just as I type, Jimmy takes the wicket of Powell. WI 11/1.

England bowled out for a stokes: 258. With the man himself scoring exactly a hundred. Nothing from anyone else bar a fifty from root.

Does that give root the record equal with AB?

Just seen highlight of the stokes drop on 98. Cringeworthy! Poor Gabriel - I remember liking him when I saw him on debut. Think his debut was against England?

Can anyone comment on the pitch and conditions?

Think that's pretty much the end of play here. Not sure if England's total is actually not unreasonable as I don't know what conditions are like and what WI will make. But if it's fair bathing conditions then it's well bowled Windies

BS 37 test :87 wickets:2211 runs:35 catches vs 79 test near 4000 runs //226 wickets/52 catches

Both about same in Hundred and 50's.I predicts Ben stokes will be remember by new generation as ''ENGLANDS GARY SOBERS'' during next 10 years.

If you never eat chicken you not miss nothing in your life but if you missing following his two innings you missed EVERYTHING IN LIFE

Root and Stokes both got lives when they were in single digits or thereabouts. These let offs cost West Indies an additional 150 odd runs else England could have been bundled out for around 100 odd runs.

At least WI won't lose by an innings in this Test.

There´s the wicket.
Brathwaite gone!

Windies crash to a defeat.
