ICC Woman's World Cup 2017

Postby raja » Sat Jun 24, 2017 3:55 pm

India vs England - game very exciting right now.
England have the upper hand.

India scored 281/3 off their 50.
England 216/6 off 41.3.
Very good recovery from them for the 6th wicket, but Brunt just got run out.

Punam Raut did a Rahane.
But that's how she bats - she doesn't have a high SR though she's quite a steady bat.
But that will prove expensive today.
It's ok in Tests, not acceptable in limited-overs games.

She's retired.
But England still have Sarah Taylor, Jenny Gunn, Tammy Beaumont and some other good players.
Fran Wilson was awesome today.

Meg Lanning and Perry are the two stunners in the side.

Honestly what is the point of women's cricket? No one even watches the shit.

Women want more money in Australia, how can you justify it? Women's cricket brings in no money so why should we pay them.

Chamara Jayangini made a mistake by taking a single off the first ball of the last over.
Not a single run came from the over thereafter.
She was going great guns, could have got another 10 runs.
Not that it would have made a difference to the result - just saying.

Fine innings by her.

Well done, Meg Lanning. Maybe we should have a mixed team (men-women) in future. She can replace the likes of Shaun Marsh. :-)
Congratulations, Australia.

Oh, and congrats to India too for the win against the Windies.
Fine knock by Smriti Mandhana. And another good knock by Mithali, though she fell just short of a 50.

I'm a big fan of the Indian women's cricket team.
Note that I call them INDIAN team, though they are also under the evil auspices of the BCCI.
That's because I feel they haven't been corrupted yet by a rockstar culture - I get a feeling they still represent India (something I lost long ago with the men's side).

Had the women's WI team managed to had a better relationship with the board? I'd imagine so as there's no international t20 leagues drawing players away from the national team

Indian women players play cricket like how Indian men played it in 1980s. Their catching and fielding is poor. Against England, they dropped lots of catches and even missed stumpings. Ironically, they managed a few run outs towards the end of English innings that saved them.

Their batting is overly reliant on Madhana (in a different league from others) and Mithali Raj. Bowling is poor. Jhulan Goswami, reputed to be the quickest pacer once upon a time has become surprisingly ineffective these days.

Since Indian women have beaten England and West Indies in their first two matches, they should make it to the last four. Anything beyond that will be a bonus. I do not see them getting past Australia (the strongest team in the tournament).

Good win today for Indian women.
Though their batting struggled, Pakistani batting was even worse.

So our women have won all 3 games so far. Well done!

Without Mandhana and Mitali Raj, this Indian team has not batting. My worst fears came true and both were dismissed cheaply in the match against Pakistan. And see how the batting collapsed.

Fortunately Pakistani batters were quite clueless themselves, so Indian women escaped with a victory margin that flatters them. Stronger opponents (like New Zealand and Australia) would have punished such inept batting.

In addition to poor batting (they cannot rotate strike), their catching is horrible. They can only catch a ball if it comes straight at them.

Indian women are top of the table now. Another win (they should be able to defeat Sri Lanka at least) will see them in last four. That is where their journey will end in this tournament.

They should also call thirdwoman. OMG.

Indian innings in tatters.
56/6.
Small consolation is that most of the damage has been done by a legbreak bowler.

Poor performance by India vs Lee and now their batting let them down to floor but final on July 23 so today its not semi so we still have chance with better points.

Pakistan were 56 for 5 vs NZ in other game.144 allout

Pakistan out of World cup as they are beaten in 5th consecutive games but India has two more game on July 12 vs Aus and July 15 vs NZ on hand.Pakistan too has some matches but just dress rehearsal for them because they are already out from WWC.

Present day Indian women cricketers are like the Indian men cricketers of 1980s. They do not have any batting or bowling fire power and their fielding is rubbish. The only way they can win against strong teams is if luck favours them big time. They already had that favourable luck against England in the world cup. I cannot see them winning against Australia and New Zealand. The only way they will qualify for the semi finals is if one of the semi final contenders lose their matches.

The England players look more feminine than the Australian team.
It seems in Australia if you're a woman and play a traditional man's sport you have to be a bull dyke.

Does that make England more progressive than Australia?

I find this use of the term "batter" irritating
its social justice gone mad

I propose women are no longer allowed to be referred to as human. They must only be referred to as huwoman or huperson.

Indian women, who were topping the table a few days ago, have slipped to number 3 in the table. A few matches later, they will be in number 5 position and they will deservingly catch the flight home alongwith Pakistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies.
