It is match practice just before Champions Trophy. New Zealand is always a dangerous side and they have in fact won Champions Trophy once, when they defeated BCCI in the final.

Well for one, the BCCI is asking NZ to tour India again in September this year.

But NZ is doing its role in spreading the growth and development of world cricket by playing the weaker nations.

The matches are in Ireland.

In just 69 years cricket has been developed sucessfully in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Banglagesh and the Mugabe effected Zimbabwe. Imagine what the next 69 could yield?

In 69 years there won't be any cricket as there won't be humans on earth. All dead as they bomb each other.

As long as there's a man and a woman in a shed somewhere that survive, humanity will persevere in some form. And after they sort out the food supply the next priority will be cricket.

And it will be Test cricket.

Even without Williamson, Guppy, Cory Anderson and Boult, NZ will win with more points, each team has to play twice.

That opening bowling from Ireland was not the best. Too many full, slow and wide balls as they searched for swing but down a wrong wide line too often enabling Ronchi to free his arms and hit through and over the off side with cover and point fielders inside the circle.

Ronchi has scored lots of domestic and even test runs since his rot - so its not a case of him back into odi form just yet.

More disappointed in George Workers 17(39) scoring rate.

Latham is still nicking off.

I've seen little to suggest any good reliable support for KW, Gup and Taylor in those 3 just yet.

Worker is now 28(64) on a placid pitch.

Taylor out innoculously for 52.

Worker's struggles to score at a rate are very dissapointing - and I'm not even that great a fan of him.

Probably he has to do what his captain and coach says.6100 + by Taylor really great in ODI.
Ireland might Fold under 175/185.

At no time is 42(84) acceptable in odi cricket unless the top order collapsed. With so many players in the IPL, Worker has still been given the opportunity ahead of Bruce and Solia. Right now - neither NZC not him appear to be getting the best from it.

50(89) - he started slogging as I wrote this post. Commentators suspect a message was given to him at drinks.

Top order domestically, opener and 3 are not new to him.

But in 50 over cricket, all batsmen get plenty of experience in the middle overs, 1 through 5 and even lower. His domestic sr is much better, but this isn't the first time he has failed to impress me with his batting in a nz shirt. Unfortunately I seen nothing today to sway me from changing that opinion so far.

NZ desperately need a few more batsmen to help sort out our test and odi teams.

I'd never even heard of him tbh.

Are domestic nz averages a fair sounding board? Or is it soft runs a little bit, like the ranji trophy?

Are domestic nz averages a fair sounding board? Or is it soft runs a little bit, like the ranji trophy?

Our averages are much lower than ranji. Our pitches are greener, our climate is suited to swing more, and our seamers are much much better.

But - Colin Munro makes a mockery of the above in first class cricket with NZ limited overs performances overall so far as has George Worker's list A and T20 which may in part be due to some smaller boundaries at main host grounds. CD and Auckland, their teams - play on some tiny grounds. This may have an impact of getting caught short in intl like Munro may do time to time or George feeling miles away from home. To be fair to Munro - he hasn't been given a real shot in tests yet. Further, nearly half the FC games are played on large Ovals.

A lot of Indian batsmen are very technically proficient and are good batsmen in their own conditions. NZ domestically has a lot of batsmen who put their hands at the ball without David Warner's hand eye nor sr. But there are a pool of up n comers, who need a second season or recapture earlier form. Tom Bruce is a name to look out for. Solia hopefully continues his debut season form.

The likes of NZ's Sinclair, Fulton, and co not stepping up are ubiquitous - think Ramprakash and harshly Hick.

This makes me happier!

Scott Kuggeleijn could be a big name in NZC in the future.

His dad. His career highlight was that he took a catch off Hadlee in India for the world record most wickets off Botham.

Yes. And he will bowl more and more.

Check out his player profile on cricinfo. The bowling stats suggest potential.

Hesson has said his future is as a 5th bowler option in intl cricket. So he will bowl more.

Lovely ground this. Tiny straight boundaries. Stand alone housing square. Grass banks not seated stands. As if its in the centre of the village's housing.

Scott Kuggeleijn "dropped" or rotated which dissapoints me - Bennett is not of the same potential as a cricketer. This decision may bite NZ if Bangladesh put a big score on the board. Hopefully I only miss Kug's bowling and not his batting too.

I think that either theoutfield slopes up or the ground is on a horizontal slope accross the field.

Ground is called Clontarf.
