Bangladesh were lost to Bennetts extra pace n bounce, but had no issues to punishing slower Rance and Neesham. Sodhi and Santner were outstanding as per. I still think Sodhi is better than J Patel.
Hope Kuggs gets another game this tour despite Milne & co back.

257/9
Game on!
Rance and Neesh bowling has given Bangladesh and their spinners a defendable total. Lets hope Ronchi and Broom find form for NZ CT fans in this chase.

Why Scott Left out but Bennet outstanding, when he was playing his debut game in NZ? I am impress with santner and Sodhi who gave 77 in 20 overs, not sure if 20 overs but great spin bowling
NZ might win by 5 wickets in 47 overs.

So is Jimmy Neesham the very poor man's Ben Stokes?

Yes, Jimmy so far is a poor man's Stokes, but the use of "very" is harsh.
Jimmy Neesham has the potential should he ever learn to play on turning pitches, to develop his test batting beyond Stokes. His ODI and test batting record compares very well to Stokes at the time of writing with Stokes 33.96 in test and Jimmy 33.76; Stokes 29.6 in ODI at 98.49 and Jimmy 29.15 at 95.22. Both are good in the field, both have red hair, both are Kiwis, so there isn't much to distinguish them on here.
It is Jimmy's bowling where it all falls apart;
tests 48.21 at 76.8 where Stokes is 34.46 at 60.6; odi 35.82 at 6.5; Stokes 37.91 at 6.09.
Interestingly Jimmy has a lower ODI bowling average but the economy at 6.5 against Stokes 6.1 still has me deflated.
Jimmy has spent most his career in Corey Anderson's shadow. Corey appears to have more shots when batting, and while the slower of the two bowlers, has a better radar (esp with the short stuff) and the ability at times to get some good swing. I have consistently maintained that for match conditions, I would not have Stokes, Neesham nor Anderson type players as they are currently in my ideal test team.
Funny thing about Corey and Ben Stokes, at school they were team mates and won a lot of matches together. Heads up, Corey Anderson has Stokes beat on ODI stats, Stokes has surpassed Corey on test bowling stats of late.
For those wondering about Jimmy Bowling, unlike Corey, he can hit 140km/h plus on demand, or plod along at low 130's and late 120's. Very similar to Stokes in that regard. Jimmy is a bit more wiry than Ben Stokes, but both are strapping lads and neither would look out of place in a boxing ring. But Jimmy isn't much of a swinger, struggles to hit the seam consistently on a good line and length, and either bowling full or banging it in short, just has a very inaccurate radar.
Jimmy is one of those cricketers who has more than enough talent to ensure a long professional and somewhat successful domestic career; he hits a long ball, unmoved by pace bowling comming in at him, but needs work at the international level where his foot movement on turning tracks when batting and his own ability to beat batsman with nothing more in his arsenal than a quicker ball when bowling himself need remedying.
So yes, currently Jimmy is a poor man's Ben Stokes. And also an example to many cricketers comming up through the ranks that bowling fast without developing a radar is going to hit a wall preventing success at some level of cricket.

Re: New Zealand and Bangladesh in Ireland Tri-Series, 12-24 May 17
Bangladesh 25 for nothing chasing 181. Joyce made a slowish - but considering the circumstances probably quite valuable - 46, and the O'Briens made 40 runs between them. Bangladesh choked them with a run rate under 3.9 - they batted all the way into around the 46th over. Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets and Shakib nabbed one too.

Bangladesh thump them by 8 wickets. Another poor display.
Test status seems to have been floated just as Ireland have gone off the boil....

Re: New Zealand and Bangladesh in Ireland Tri-Series, 12-24 May 17
NZ play 5 specialist bowlers with Milne to bat at 7.
Henry, Milne, Kugs, Santner, Sodhi ought to be too much for Ireland here if NZ bat to par or beyond. Without Southee, Boult, Mitch, Lockie, Bennet, Wagner or J Patel and you really start to appreciate NZ odi bowling depth. Shame we don't have the batsmen or keeper surplus to match as yet.

I do like Latham, just the right amount of ability to be very likeable and I cheer him when he does well.

3 fours and 3 sixes in last 8 or 11 ball
Only Munro can do with the strike rate of 293
15 ball 44 just gone

Re: New Zealand and Bangladesh in Ireland Tri-Series, 12-24 May 17
Colin Munro very nearly got the world record for fastest 50 here.
44 off 15 - caught. Had that ball gone for 6 he would have taken the record off ABDV - currently 16 balls.
Boycs - Latham needs some serious scores against top team premier bowlers teams at decent pace. He's got talent, but often bats within himself and slowly against better bowling.

He's more entertaining than Maxwell even when he scores big. That reverse sweep fine off the left arm quick for 4 along the ground was sheer joy - let alone all the switch hit stuff for 6.

Yeah - $1.01 for NZ to win with Ireland up against the Kiwi bowlers on display here, chasing this score.

Scott is not in ICC squad, but is pressing WC claims for sure. To me - his development of his potential is a big deal in NZC right now and has been for a while.
Cory is bowling better than Neesh which to be fair - isn't difficult, but batting worse. Neesh could stave off Cory's challenge to regsin his team place back.

BD near victory after worst spell from Cory 5/0/37/0 and that dropped catch by NZ captain off Santner turn the tide in BD's way
NZ will win Cup but Banger did great with second wicket stand of 136 between Sabbir and Tamim both hits 65.patel 10/0/55/2
BD need 37 off 36 with 5 wickets in hand

Bit harsh. Neesham bowled pies as well, both failed with bat, and Broom and Latham went all too slow, while Patel and Santner were eased through. Taylor with the tail were defensive instead of taking a punt to get a 300 total.
While Henry and Bennet were respectable - or more than - NZ has large pace stocks.
