KP has announced his retirement from county cricket, with two matches this season due to injury. No great loss it would seem

At 43 years young, Shiv Chanderpaul has averaged 67 in Div 1 this year with 3 centuries. This is a much better return than test players like Elgar or Handscomb.

I think you win because ECB wants to keep Westley despite his poor performance in 3 innings out of 4 vs WI.Crane and R.Jones also in the 13 name release for Lords

I never finds all those scores of second XL or Division one means vs better bowling

What are Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott doing in a T20 squad? :-)
That's like VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid in T20. :-)

For an international team maybe. For a county they're their best batsmen by far they'd feature in all formats.

Bell and Trott at any age are one of the best batting duo's in England. Both are still in shape and able to put up regular 50's.

Re: English 2017 domestic season
Sunnav Gujarat's Samit Patel ( 50 ) and Zimbabwe's Brendon Taylor(60*) put on excellent 100 runs Stands,as Nottingham recover from 33 for 3 to
145 / 3.
Woakes 3/0/12/3 great
I wish I can punch John Whitaker of ECB, if Samit Patel not get selected in Joe Roots t20 teams in coming international t20 matches.he is very handy with the ball in this 2017 seasons too.
190 for 4 or so
Christian 8 ball 24* great knock, last over Gone for 24
(Christian also team member of Aus.to India in 2017)

He says,'' its HURT''
When English selector not selects him for any format yet, despite his classy performance this 2017 seasons.

There isn't a "final" so to speak for the county championship it's just a points system

Re: English 2017 domestic season
Stoneman has return to county cricket and stokes a century for Surrey against Yorkshire, with Sangakkarra close behind on 84* and Foakes not out on 64.
Bodes well for England but I still think Hameed should be the long term choice. Maybe try to get him in at three if they're not going to persevere with Westley

Re: English 2017 domestic season
Sangakarra is going to end his final season with a season average of over 100.00.
He could have played on it seems. But we slate so many people who play on for too many years. Perhaps we should just stand and applaud his abilities. One of my favourites.

Re: English 2017 domestic season
B Taylor has left the county kolpak scene to recom.mence with Zimbos. This is good for world cricket, and Taylor with Ervine (and Williams) provide a useful odi middle order that is capable of surprise winning scores over top opposition.

Not had a particularly good season, only features in four CC matches with 123 runs at 26.40. Had a good T20 final though smacking 65. And averaged over 50 in the RL One Day Cup

Averaging over 50 in 50 over cricket sounds good to me. Especially for someone who can keep wicket.

Indeed. I think CC have pulled themselves into Division 1.
And Surrey, despite having Foakes and Sangakarra (most prolific run scorer this season) have won only one match??

We slate people who play on for too many years, if their performances are consistently poor, and they still play on.
Sanga wasn't doing too badly, if I remember right. At least not for an extended period.
Definitely good for a year or two.
