Gotta hand it to Starc.. he may leak runs on occasions but he is one of our few quicks that can nail the yorker on cue.

Well done India. The better side in the crunch moments. Baggy Greens exceeded expectation so :hatsoff:

actually reminds me of the 2009 Ashes series decider at the Oval, England also posted 332, however they batted first
one session after lunch, brought it all undone for Australia though

so that happened

Smith owned the Indian team.

There are some batsmen who Indian bowlers have feared over the years.

Smith is one of them.

Will start a separate thread on this.

Ashwin was not at his best in this series, he was average. Jadeja performed. India missed Mishra big time. Kuldeep Yadav = his chinamans made the difference in the first innings, but was easily picked off in the second.

India's dependency on Kohli prior to this series was huge, he was a major flop here. Pujara showed in India domestic cricket that he can bat for as long as he wishes. He brought a little bit of that against the Aussies, not Dravidian, but pretending to be there.

Rahul's 6 Fifties in 4 match series must be Indian record unless Chetan Chauhan hits in the past probably.

genereous with Lyon and Starc. Cummins played two games as the spearhead and has looked far more potent than Starc. Hazlewood played his part.. built pressure and was unlucky. Lyon performed twice thruout a four match series..out of how many overs? SOK was more consistent..chipped in for most of his spells. Still under performed in the pressure moments like his mate.

Ok, I guess I should be sporting enough to congratulate the winning side and its supporters.

So congratulations to Team BCCI - very well played, deserving winners.

Congratulations to all BCCI supporters too - must feel really good to not just win this series but now be on the winning side of every series played last against every team.

And oh, in case you think I don't have it in me to give credit where due, full credit to RAvindra JAdeja. He was outstanding. Actually he's been fantastic all series, in fact, all season.

I will write separately on my thoughts about the series but I want to especially mention Umesh Yadav here.

He is one of the least-hyped up cricketers in India (being from Vidarbha and not from Mumbai helps keep him out of the news).

But what a fine bowler he has developed into!

Am very glad he lasted as many as 12 Tests in this season - he was notorious in the past for injury.

His spell yesterday was fantastic to see. It is not often you see Aussie batsmen being troubled by Indian quicks, that too in Indian conditions.

Anyway, congrats once again, everybody.

And to Team Australia and Aussie supporters, we might have lost the series but we weren't the pushovers we were expected to be. A lot of guys wrote us off as a 0-4 side - we did a bit better than that.

I think our bowling unit deserves credit - they gave their everything and always kept us in the hunt. Our batsmen sadly let us down.

Still, some bright spots - will talk about them separately.

Test cricket completed 140 years in march 2017, if you check data base,37.85% times, two test wickets fall one after another in test cricket, either both set batsman dismissed or new batsman out

Talking about the entire series Misty. Not just this test.'

Lyon and SOK went well spasmodically. Same as most batsmen had their moments. Just not the reqired consistency.

This was a hard fought series, tough luck to the Aussies, India were slightly better, I would give it 55-45.

Katto, Baggy, Mick , Verity etc kept up the spirit and participation in the forum.

Great series, just 2 bad collapses cost Australia, both times Smithy failed. Australian Batsman do not like L/H spinners, in Sri lanka it was Herath, here it was Jadeja at home it's Holland & O'Keefe & occasionally Agar. Lack of penetration by our paceman didn't help either, 22wkts in 8 tests, not good enough, they bowled well but, it takes more than that.
Well played India :hatsoff: , overall the better side.

We were chasing 190 to win 2nd Test but they got to that after being 4 down in front by 40 odd, Aussies choked.

Great tour. Never boring.
I don't like when one team bends over before another team for a onesided series. I still don't like couple of matches getting result on 4th day itself.

No need to blame player of series who hits 499 with 3 century.Hick told ,'' we depends too much on smith''
if Proteas beaten tomorrow (91%) Australia will get 500000 cash from ICC as second team (April 1st cut off date)

No way proteas deserves to draw to be become number 2 team

Lack of penetration by our paceman didn't help either, 22wkts in 8 tests, not good enough, they bowled well but, it takes more than that.
Well played India :hatsoff: , overall the better side.

Not blaming Smithy at all, can't expect him to ton up every Innings, the other guys have to stand up as well, Australia is far to reliant on Smith at present.
SA beat Australia 2-1 earlier in the summer, so probably are a better side right now. Just having a bad game, like Australia their batting is a bit so-so especially without De Villiers.

Around a bit but not quite as much. IPL doesn't interest me much, can take or leave T20 and theres no TV coverage in Australia.

It drags on too long for many of the neutral cricket fans. I appreciate it popularity with Indian members of the International cricket community, and its fun to watch the international stars put on a show, and even some non-international Indian players like Hardik Pandya's brother for me, but too long overall and very frustrating when favorite international players are quota'd out due to the 4 import limit.
If any moderator or administrator is able to add Going South to my foe list, I would greatly appreciate it.

Does the BBL interest you, according to some and especially CA the BBL is now the Best T20 league in the universe. :lmao:

So refreshing for Raja to give credit when it's due, especially when it comes to his Beloved BCCI. :thanx:

Talking about the entire series Misty. Not just this test.'

Lyon and SOK went well spasmodically. Same as most batsmen had their moments. Just not the reqired consistency.

did Lyon sleep with your wife or something?

Of course it's the best, it's in OZ, all the best Cricket is played in Australia.
Due to work commitments i don't get home most nights till the break in innings for the BBL, so gets hard to be interested and am far more interested in any test Cricket played that day. Personally i would like to see the restriction lifted on the number of overs an individual bowler can bowl then i might like T20 better.
