on the bright side, at least we'll have an interesting series now because even if Australia loses the next two, the 4th test is still a live match to retain the B-G trophy

Worst going around, absolute hopeless. The last wicket was a howler.

First time India dismissed under 150 in both innings in single test in India

Wicket was made for India but Australian spinner Dominent India, India not looks number 1 here

SL made this mistake about 6 years ago when they doctored their pitches and brought Australia into the game

The curator at this ground seemed a little naive to not produce a normal Indian pitch

Warner has been average in Tests for ages apart from the odd slog innings but its gone un noticed.

I'm an Australian supporter, it was a shit Cricket wicket, the BCCI should be fined by the ICC as were Sri Lanka in the 1st test against Australia in 2012 (the last time Australia won in the Subcontinent). Australia won because they played better Cricket, picked the perfect bowler for the conditions a accurate finger spinner who does not try to spin the ball but let the wicket do the job. The toss had nothing to do with the Aussies winning, the highest total of the match was the 3rd Innings.

With you. How is a couple of batting cameos and two wickets equate to a man of the match performance when another gets 12 wickets..that is equivalent to two centuries.

I have just read this entire thread from 1st post to the last. I can't believe the unmitigated BULLSHIT I've read here. The thing that intrigues me most is that there are Indians here sailing under other countries flags. Nobody murders English the way Indians do. Maybe a win in the next test will get them to show their true colours. Baggers!!! Yes you Baggers. Still on the Wade kickathon? Do you know why he is Oz keeper? Because he is a better keeper than Nevill. That's it. No more. No less. Yes Maxwell is inconsistent but still has a better record than STS' younger brother. You can explain STS to the cretins. Going South. Why don't you declare yourself. You're as American as a papadum. Katto? Home address? I get the feeling my stay here will be short. I have a limited drivel tolerance/.

Some thoughts:

1) First of all, congratulations to the Aussie players and all Aussie supporters. What an absolutely fantastic win! Before the game, nobody would have predicted this. Who would have thought a team getting 500+ regularly recently would get scores that would be an embarrassment in T20 cricket?

2) I've seen folks saying the toss made a difference. Even Bishan Bedi tweeted this. I disagree. Australia faced just as tough batting conditions on day 1 as BCCI faced on day 2. Just that they coped MUCH better.

3) Which brings me to Matt Renshaw. I've adopted this kid - I really like him. That he rushed to the loo only endears him to me even more. Shows he's human. He might have been (understandably) overshadowed by SOK, Smith & Starc in the honours in this game, but his role was very vital. Imagine if he'd gone cheaply. Australia would've struggled to get to 150.

4) Another guy I'm thinking of adopting (if I'm allowed two) is Peter Handscomb. Those two catches would make a "best of the decade" list - and then to happen within a space of 15-20 min! BCCI kept dropping Smith, as if to pay special tribute to Handscomb.

5) Which brings me to the BCCI catching. O man, it was goddawful! Murali Vijay, then the sub Abhinav - come on! Not that it might have made a difference at all, seeing the margin of a 333-run defeat, but even then....You really deserve to lose if you can't hold on to such dollies.

6) Which brings me to the BCCI bowlers. Ashwin & Jadeja did bowl very well - just maybe they made the ball sometimes turn more than necessary. The irony is Jadeja usually doesn't turn the ball much. He just keeps it tight, wicket-to-wicket, line-and-length. Here, when he needed to do just that, maybe with a little bit of turn, he did much more. Also, both these guys were badly let down by the catching. Or rather, lack of it. You could see the frustration on Ashwin's face.

7) Which brings me to the Aussie spinners. Just brilliant. The spotlight is on SOK, but they were both very good. SOK didn't get too much turn - just enough to actually get the bat's edge. Or it didn't turn at all - again deceiving the batsman who was expecting turn. Either way, he was so accurate, it was always a matter of time before the batsman would misread him.

Lyon, for all the recent negative comments about him, bowled pretty well too, I thought. Unlucky to have chances missed off him. SOK overshadowed him, no doubt, but he kept the pressure on too. BCCI batsmen had no respite at all.

8) Starc. That delivery to Pujara was just superb. Kohli chased a wide in the same over - and that pretty much had BCCI on the ropes. Which is a reflection on the other "reputed" batsman in the side, Rahane. A guy who I lovingly call Trahane because, in my opinion, he's trash in every format.

9) KL Rahul. Another guy who's beginning to get on my nerves. The number of times he's thrown his wicket away! And Kumble (in today's paper) was defending him. That's what really annoys me. If you've played a bad shot and let down your team, yes you probably feel bad anyway - but if you really did, you wouldn't do it again. And again. And again. Kumble defending Rahul is typical of modern day "soft" coaches. Rahul does have a lot of talent - but he's really annoying.

10) Smith. Everytime I see him bat, I think he's going to go next ball. Yes, even when he got those 700+ runs against BCCI at home, I felt the same way. And yet he keeps getting the runs, even with that unconventional batting style of his. I like the guy - and am really happy for him.

11) Warner. Terrible game for him. Didn't have a clue on how to play Ashwin. And didn't seem to want to try to learn either.

12) Mitch Marsh. Kohli missed a trick yesterday. Should have got Jadeja on to bowl to Mitch Marsh. Jadeja has that one angling away from the righthander, which is quite potent. Marsh has no clue how to play this delivery. Instead, Kohli kept Yadav and Ishant on. If I'd been playing in this gae instead of Ishant, nobody would've noticed the difference, I guess.

13) DRS. BCCI have no clue how to use it. They should realise that umpire's call is a very likely outcome most of the times, when you think you might have got your man but wouldn't put your house on it. In this game, their DRS reviews were quite embarrassing. Even to the naked eye, it was apparent they had got it wrong before the tech showed it to be so.

14) Shaun Marsh. The Aussies might not want to change a winning side, but really this guy is an embarrassment as a specialist batsman in these conditions. He's probably a good player of pace - I remember him doing well in South Africa. But against Ashwin & Jadeja...you almost feel like grabbing the bat from his hand to put him out of his misery.

15) Finally, I hope BCCI's batting frailty against spin has been exposed sufficiently here. There's this myth that they're good against spin. Rubbish. Laxman was good - these guys aren't.

16) One part of me wants this sort of wicket again. That's because I want BCCI to be exposed again. I know it's probably not good for cricket if matches get over like this, but for too long batsmen have been having inflated records/averages based on conditions helpful to them. It's nice to see them sweat a bit.

17) Closing this comment with an observation about Saha. I'm liking this guy, even if he's a BCCI player. He's really good behind the stumps - and not too bad a bat either. I doubt Dhoni would have done any better in this game. So if I had to adopt one Indian player, it would probably be this guy.

That's all, folks! :-)

I'd suggest you stick to critiquing cricket rather than the nationality of other people here, as the tolerance of that is even more limited. But I enjoy you're comment about feeling that your stay may be short, as if it is designed to illicit some regret that you're not going to play in our little sandbox anymore. How will we cope without you.

Welcome, OneMoon.

I see this is your third post here - I'm sorry we didn't give you a welcome with your first one. Anyway, better late than never. So a warm welcome to you.

In general, we don't attack or abuse fellow members here. We do pull each other's leg, in the form of banter. While we might have heated arguments at times, It's never meant to be personally insulting or malicious towards the other person.

I trust you will appreciate and abide by this simple rule here. Other than this, we don't care to have too many rules. We're pretty easygoing, just a place to hangout and discuss anything (mostly cricket) one wants to.

As for quality of English, yes, Indians do tend to murder it (to use your choice of verb) - but not all Indians have had the privilege of being educated in an environment where English is the first language. So while it'd be great if all English here were grammatically correct - and spelt perfectly - it's not a criterion we use to judge members. Our members come here to have fun, not to be judged for their English.

As for Indians here sailing under other countries' flags, I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to say. Every member is allowed to pick a flag of his choice - it doesn't have to be his home country. If you're referring, however, to Indians supporting another country and not their own - and suggesting they're doing this due to the loss in this Test to the Aussies - I think it's a rather premature, and even unfair, assessment without having enough knowledge of the members in question.

Lastly, I've one question for you. Who are you referring to as cretins?

Once again, welcome to the forum.

Moony is a long time online mate of mine. Personally I am pleased to have him at CF for that very reason. But for as long as I have known him.. he has spoken his mind. He is a self confessed rabble rouser.. just his politics. He is a good man and a humorous one when you get to know him. I do not wish to sermonise you Moony but perhaps you could pull your punches somewhat. This is a friendly little forum (no trolls like WP).. filled with people from across our globe who love talking cricket, playing quizzes, chatting and discussing.. Stay here and you will get to know them. I am also new here but in that short time I have been made to feel welcome as has Mick and Mike another couple of Aussie mates who you know. Of all the forums, perhaps excepting The Crowd, this is the place where I have felt most at home. This is a tolerant forum..but will not accept racial or any other abuse. Tone it down Moony please mate and you will enjoy it here as I do.

I'll archive this one (obviously we can all still post here whenever) as the second test thread is up already

raja's summary was a delight to read but no you can't adopt Handscom as well.

Having connections with Qld cricket I have known young Matt for a few years and can affirm he is a lovable young lad with an everpresent smile.

Not often a Queenslander is rushed into the national side but Trevor Hohns and co recognised his maturity and the fact that he is a born opener.

Barsby said of him in song one day.

He knows when to hold them
knows when to fold them
Knows when to walk away
Knows when to run.

Why does he want my home address?

GTFO

this forum is for cricket lovers more so than bandwagon jumpers - the latter dont usually last as soon as their team loses they're nowhere to be seen

its not really cool to appear out of nowhere to jump all over our Indian friends when their team experiences a rare home loss - its just a game, its not war

Boycs30. Are we still using the Aussie v India discussion thread for between tests?

I hope you and the admin guys read my post about Moony.

Yes it was oh so sweet. Expecting your boys to bounce back in second game. Would like to see a better pitch than this minefield for a fairer game between bat and ball.

I think he is suggesting your address dictates who you should be nice to and which cricket team you should support,? :lmao:

Can anyone tell me why Mishra is not in the Indian squad for this series ? is he injured or just out of favour, he would have been a real handfull in the first test. Jayant Yadhav bowls too much alike Ashwin, Mishra would have been a interesting alternative to Ashwin & Jadeja.

As far as our Drivel policeman goes, just remember SIR, even well educated people need a reality :slap: from time to time. :P

Boycs, I've taken the liberty of moving this thread back from the Archives to the Live Cricket Forum.
I think it's too early to archive it. We haven't even been able to soak (or, should that be SOK) it in fully - it is such a wonderful achievement by these Aussie players. :-)

I'd be in no hurry to archive this. :-) Maybe after the 2nd Test - depending on how that one goes. If BCCI win that one, we can archive both threads ina hurry. :-)

I think this whole exercise was a conspiracy by the BCCI to ensure 4 live tests and thus generate more interest and a fairy-tale comeback narrative script has been written for the home side

This Aussie win has cost me Twitter followers.

I normally don't discuss much cricket on Twitter - I prefer this space.

But I was so thrilled yesterday at the win, I tweeted a few not-so-nice things about BCCI.

Lost a few Indian followers. :-)

I really need to respect the sentiments of Indian cricket fans. :-)

Have you always been this bitter & cynical, do you ever have anything positive to add to the discussion?

Not really, we just get a very vocal minority like him on forums. Most Aussies aren't like him.

Second game?

The 5th ODI is going on now. We won the first two and then totally fucked up. We should have easily won the third but failed miserably to mess up a 130 chase. I think that might be the most epic collapse in ODI cricket.

In the Aus vs India series I support Australia. If the series was in Australia I would support India. My support for teams changes from series to series unless Afghanistan is playing.
