I like the intent shown by Smith going up to 3, Clarke always hid down at 5 and failed whenever he went higher

Isn't it great to see the Corruption biting themselves on the arse. A deliberately dodgy pitch that didn't work in their favour. Under the new regulations on pitches I wonder if Broad's match report will give this pitch a big fail.

Interesting to see if the ICC fine the BCCI for what is clearly a sub standard Wicket.

I still think Khawaja should be in this side
you got to back your best players..so what if he had one bad series. he'll come good eventually, he's a proven performer and a specialist batsman

In SL aus beaten by 3/0 UK was there, warm up his butt, his test selection made from Australian parliaments
I think something weird of his selection after all, he is Asian.(JEET RAWAL in NZ test team because of GLEN TURNER'S wife @mayor Mrs KAUR, you need support to get in there)

Who was the last Asian plays for Australia in sub continent? Fawad Ahmed in sub? No.nobody.

Fawad Ahmed test selection was made from Australian parliament during Gillard years

Khawaja grew up in Australia, he was selected on merit

My issue with Usman Khawaja, you just says he is your best batsman, why he was ignored for 8 test innings in sub continent?

he played in the 1st and 2nd test in SL then was dropped

I didnt say he was our best batsman
I would say he's in our top 6

he wasnt ignored for 8 innings - he played in 4

Fawad Ahmed was selected for the 2015 tour of Windies & England on the back of a 48 wkt Shield Season 11 more then the next best. He deserved selection on merit alone, unfortunately his form in a couple of tour matches was very poor and hasn't been selected since.
There have been very few players of Asian desent in the history of Australian Cricket up until very recently. Dav Whatmore was Sri Lankan and played 1 test for Australia during the Packer era, good Shield player at best. This is now changing and our 2 brightest teenage prospects are Jason Sangha and Arjun Nair. Australian Cricket must embrace a multicultural future to stay among the top 2-3 nations, the days of Australian Cricket teams all being white with names like Smith, Jones & McKenzie are long gone.

Moony me old mate. Yes it was precious was it not. They underestimated SOK big time. This is the sort of results he produces in domestic back home. Looks innocuous but somehow conjures wickets.

Pitches that crumble and turn from the first ball should be forever banned from Indian tours.

This is why respected former Indian Test cricketer and author Aakash Chopra rates Mat Renshaw as Australia's new batting sensation.

He is perceived as a poor player of spin which he showed in Sri lanka. I should clarify that he is poor on Asian turners. He appears far more comfortable playing spin back home.. but then the Aussie decks do not turn square and crumble as you watch.

I'd back Khawaja to find a method sooner than Mitch Marsh

Warner is also a poor player of spin, Handscomb is a poor player of spin
they're still good players and I'd rather give class batsman a chance to work it out over time than a lower order slogger pretending to be a #6.

We may as well have Mitch Starc at #6, his batting record is better than Marsh.

Steve Smith is just a competent player against spin and he's probably Australia's best batsman since Greg Chappell.

How many will Smith need before declaring? Or will he bat on until dismissed. India had an off day yesterday. I expect then to bounce back today.

That was a very good knock in these conditions by Mitch Marsh. If he can continue to show grit like this he should remain in the side.

he didnt last long today at all and looked out of his depth in defense

Smith has had 5 lives now, but he's made his own luck to a degree by not giving easy chances (too often)

Even if Australia gets a 450 lead.. I can see India making a good fist of that total. They know every blade of grass and scoop of dust on these decks. We will have to maintain the pressure to win this.

great application? he was nearly out second ball then he only had to face the quicks and the weaker spinners

his brother faced Ashwin his whole innings

With 2 appeals left thats a tactical DRS by Smith. Great knock by Smithy, probably match winning.

Great way to bring up Ashwins ton. Dangerous partnership for India O'Keefe averages 29 in FC Cricket.

.
WI's record in WI is successfully chased 438 I think, but India scored 429 in England for draw.
The record is 419 by the Windies against Australia in 02-03 in the Windies. Pakistan topped 450 in December against Australia chasing 490 odd, the wkt on both occasions was a tad flatter than this one however.
