I probably wouldn't call Bangladesh a minnow now, there actually a fairly good side.

Mominul Haque averaging 55 after 20 Tests is bloody impressive!

Nothing pleases me more than seeing Bangladesh develop now as a Test side.
They've always been a decent side in the limited-overs format. But never seemed to have the temperament and skill required for Test cricket.
Now, finally, they're delivering in this format too.

Maybe it's a road, maybe it's too early to cheer, but each heartening performance from Bangladesh in Test cricket, makes me very happy.

Pakistan and Bangladesh are my two favourite countries in cricket, followed by Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim had a Test average of 31.97 from 50 Tests, before this Test.
With 3 hundreds in these 50 Tests.
He made his debut in 2005 - so he's been around a while.

He's a much better batsman than this average suggests.

As a batsman, I rate him higher than Dhoni in Tests.

Phew! Now I can breathe easier.

214 - David Lloyd vs India (Birmingham) 1974.
That disastrous series. India was without Chandra for this innings, if I remember right. Lloyd made merry.

Bangladesh showing other Asian nations how to play down under

perhaps in light of recent Chappelli comments, Bangladesh could replace Pakistan as regular visitors to our shores

Latham is turning out to be a good player.
Not choking unlike a certain 200-Test guy. :-)

Dramatic defeat for Bangladesh.

I'm gutted, but not quite as much as I'd have been if they'd been playing England or BCCI.

Losing to NZ is ok, I quite like the Kiwis too.

But Bangladesh will be wondering how this could have happened. Answer, not able to bat time. They've still got a very limited-overs mentality. Which is great when you're chasing or setting a target, but not when you've got to save wickets.

Entertaining players, for sure - but there will be a lot more heartburn for them if they don't learn how to play time too. Just as important in a Test match as the fancy run-getting.

Many of today's Test players are products of T20 / limited-overs cricket.
That has huge benefits no doubt - it helps while chasing, or when you need to set a target quickly.
But they're not equipped to play out time.
To put a price on their wicket and just frustrate the bowler.

Sad to see Bangladesh choke this way. Would have been nice to see them draw the game. I guess Rahim getting knocked out had a bad effect on the team.

I really am becoming a fan of Latham. Six hundreds and 12 fifties in 29 Tests is pretty decent going, and he's only 24 so he has plenty of time to mature. That touch-less-than-greatness skill of his makes him, like many New Zealand players over the years, very relate-able. A likeable every-man of cricket from a team I enjoy supporting, who is decent at what he does and hopefully will go about his business for a number of years. Would be nice to touch his average above 40 but it's heading the right way: currently at 39.60 and averaged over 41 in the 2016 season and so far in 2017. Averages over 43 under Williamson. Admittedly averages of 85 or more against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are helping that somewhat but he has years left in his career.

Good player.

True. I like the guy too. NZ has had so many players like this that one can only hope he doesn't end up like so many of them.
