This is going to be one hell of a boring final.
Already lost interest in it - and it hasn't even started.

Players very meh.

I'd be interested in Panchal though.
And maybe Shaw of Mumbai.

Come on, Gujarat!
Good first day, but this is Mumbai. And it's the final.
You've got to stay the course.

Gujarat 291/6 in reply to Mumbai's 226.
Thanks to Parthiv (90) and Juneja (77).

Great that they got the lead - but they need to get much more.

This is Mumbai we're talking about. Not for nothing are they known as a khadoos team.

They've seen many such situations in the past - and fought their way back.

Mumbai back in the game - and how!
This is typical Mumbai.
If Gujarat don't get some quick wickets tomorrow morning to be set not more than 200, they'll choke.

Congrats, Gujarat.
Congrats, Misty.

Excellent innings from Parthiv. A very good one from Juneja too.
Kept their cool.

Yes, Mumbai fielding was terrible.
But I don't want to take anything away from Gujarat's win.
They held their nerve, Mumbai lost theirs.

Gujrat, in their semifinal against Jharkhand had conceded first innings lead and had set a total of under 240 for Jharkhand to chase. But Jharkhant did not have a Parthiv Patel in their ranks to hold their batting up. Their captain Saurav Tiwari is a pretender who has got too big for his boots after managing to play a couple of ODIs and others in the team just did not have the temperament to handle pressure of a fourth innings chase, or else it would have been Jharkhand playing the final instead of Gurjat.

Fantastic win for Gujrat in the final . Parthiv Patel held his nerve, played with a cool head, rode his luck help rewrite history. Fantastic !

I was extremely disappointed to look at the "pace" attack of Mumbai. For a team that regularly wins Ranji trophy, their pacers are ordinary trundlers. Balwinder Sandhu bowls at 110-115 kmph which is slower than the pace of female fast bowlers.

In addition, it was pathetic to see the "gamesmanship" of Tare, the Mumbai captain. He gave a rude send off to Gujrat Batsman Juneja after he was caught by him. It was poetic justice to see that he (and his team mates) dropped lots of catches after that incident and allowed Gujrat to win comfortably in the end. If you are not able to back your "aggression" with performance then it is much better to conduct yourself with humility. Lots and lots of neutral fans became Gujrat supporters after that incident. I had turned a Gujrat supporter just as I noticed that they were batting positively in their chase instead of just trying to play for a draw.

Chirag Gandhi's 169 (his highest FC score, previous highest was 87, he had an average of just 28 going into this game) took Gujarat to a respectable 358.

Rest of India, in reply, are 166/4.
Pujara is on 66.

Looking at this Rest of India side, I'm wondering on what basis this side was picked.

RoI is a rubbish team this year. In the past, RoI used to contain star players, or at least very promising players who were on the cusp of selection. The Irani Trophy was an important event to get the attention of the selectors. This is how Dilip Vengsarkar got picked for the New Zealand tour after his fine knock of 110 against an attack containing the likes of Prasanna, if I remember right.

Now I look at this RoI side and wonder whether there was any point in playing this match at all.

Btw, it's still Irani Trophy, right?

No you are Wrong

ROI need only 114 to beat Gujarat with 6th wickets in hand, not only that but

Pujara 83 not out
Saha 122 not out

Together they put on unbeaten 203 for the 5th wicket.

What is wrong? That it was called Irani Trophy? Or that RoI is a rubbish team this year.

See, it doesn't matter whether they beat Gujarat or not. In my opinion, they will still be a rubbish team.

I have a feeling players with influence have got themselves picked for this match.

Otherwise we'd have had guys like Shreyas Gopal playing.

Wow! Saha (203*) and Pujara (116*) see Rest of India to a 6-wicket win with a 316* run partnership.

They were 63/4, needing 379.

Didn't lose a wicket thereafter.

Well done, RoI. Still a rubbish team, in my opinion.

And congratulations to Gujarat for winning the Ranji Trophy. Could have won this Irani Trophy too, they got the first-innings lead - but collapsed in the second innings.
