Afghanistan pick eight uncapped players for Zimbabwe Tests

Afghanistan included eight uncapped cricketers in their 19-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, ACB confirmed on Thursday.
Eight members of Afghanistan's 19-man squad are uncapped at the Test level: Abdul Malik, Munir Ahmad Kakar, Shahidullah Kamal, Bahir Shah Mohboob, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Sayed Ahmed Shirzad, Saleem Safi and Zia Ur Rahman Akbar.
ACB director of cricket Raees Ahmadzai told Cricbuzz that the board has given opportunities to youngster due to their domestic performances. "They have been performing really well in domestic cricket so we felt that we should give them opportunity in Test," said Ahmadzai.
"The door is open for best available players in any format," he added.
ACB officials said they are expecting the service of Rashid Khan in the series that will also see the return of Asghar Afghan as their captain. Rashid is currently in Karachi preparing for the start of the PSL after he was picked by the Lahore Qalandars as a platinum player in last month's draft.
''He is expected to be available for only a couple of games in PSL before flying to the UAE ahead of the first Test,'' said the ACB official on Thursday.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Peshawar Zalmi), Qais Ahmad (Quetta Gladiators) and Noor Ahmad (Karachi Kings) will be available for longer period in PSL as they are not picked in the Test squad for the series.
However, Mujeeb and Nabi are likely to miss the final stages to play in the T20I series from March 17-20.

Zahir Khan and Abdul Wasi Noori have been named as reserves.
