I was there in this Eastern UP town for one week and I decided to watch "Baahubali" (Hindi) on a sunday. I went to the multiplex and found the shows house full for the day. So I went to watch the movie again on monday. The special effects in the movie are the best that one has ever seen in an Indian movie. The great details seen in the special effects visuals are on par with (and seem to be inspired from) the visuals of LOTR and other such movies. And I am not complaining. Movies are all about story telling, and this movie does a great job telling this tale mainly through stunning visuals and special effects. One will do well to keep one's brain and logical part of it behind to derive the most enjoyment. I alongwith my wife enjoyed the movie because we left our brains behind. It also helped that we got seats quite close to the screen and that made us like archtypical front stallers of yore. :)

Hindi movie goers have little idea who the actors are, but still they have thronged the movie halls in big number and have been impressed by what they have seen. Personally I did not know any of the actors but I liked all of them. It was like good old days of 1990 when I was based in Hyderabad and I would watch Telugu movies (mostly of Chiranjeevi) without understanding the dialogues). :)

The movie in my opinion is a movie made on epic proportions. I am waiting for its sequel that is scheduled to be released in 2016.

Nice review. Your stamp of approval might push raja&lungi see it in a different light. They seem to have stuck in time wrap for Mughal e Azam period. ;)

Yeah, I thought so too.

No wonder there's a strong correlation between IPL lovers and Baahubali lovers. :-)

I watched "Bahubali"part I in an eastern UP town with my wife. I watched "Bahubali"part II in a western UP town with my wife and daughter.

I was sure that I would love the movie no matter how high my expectations were. And indeed the movie exceeded my expectations as I was sure it would. Magnificent visuals, great story telling- which I had expected based on my watching part I of the movie.

Just like one feels proud that BCCI runs world cricket, one can take pride in the fact that India can produce a movie like Bahubali. Make no mistake, this movie would be loved by people all over the world, as the story telling will win over movie goers of all nationalities.

Loved it. I too feel proud that it came from my native language. I recommended to all here at my work.

Here is a sample song from first part.

Full movie for first part.

Second part is currently running in theaters and is the second highest grosser overtaking all Hollywood movies in US and U.K. says it all.

This is what BBC says about this movie.

Very nice review squarecut.

The VFX from first part looked like VFX but it blended so beautiful in second part that the VFX did not stand out as VFX except in the flying ship song. Such is the attention to detail in this master piece. Often times Indian movies lack finess to details where parts of a movie is unfinished or unkept or unclean where they stand out like sour thumb to irritate the spectators.

From story, I missed couple of things
1. Avantika got robbed of screen space. Would have seen her marriage in the end at least with some more fights, nice princess dress and atleast one song for her self. Feel pity to her.
2. Balladeva had a son who is dead. But who is his wife ? Not a single frame we see her. Mistake.
3. I thought it would be logical to see babubali elder brother of ballaladeva but In telugu version "Anna" is used for ballaladeva at one point and I thought WTF.
4. What about Aslam khan from first part that promised to help kattsppa on his need ? Vanished into thin air??
5. Where did Shiva the rustic learned that good archery, sword fighting & horse riding etc so as to beat even ballaladeva the pro? We saw how vigorous mahishmati princes get trained in part 1. Villager knows better ? You get that by genes alone automatically?
6. Who were avantika parents ? How she ended up leading bandits in forest ? Missing info.
7. How can one imagine a person by looking at a face mask they wore and fall in love ???

Everyone say raja Mouli dad vijayendra Prasad is great story teller but I find him incomplete lacking logic and common sense.

PS: this is my own observation but not lifted from any website etc.

Loved the movie. Some of the scenes and dialogues were straightaway lifted from the Mahabharata like when Baahubali tells Ravi Varma to protect the women and not run like a coward. It was Arjuna counselling Uttara in the Mahabharata. VFX was amazing.

Ten out of ten time part one always better than part two.I wish same could happen to BAHUBALI

yes. after seeing last 10 hindi movies bahubali sure highlighted the vast difference in film making and audiences rejected big star movies in dust bins. rofl@harry met sejel kind of idiot flicks. good riddance.

non-indian guys don't miss to see on netflix. you never know when they take it out of netflix. it's got english sub titles for you. let us know what you think. it's two parts two movies. watch in order.

above is a new soon to be released tamil movie. plot itself is mind boggling where bollywood has no balls to make such tech savvy high class movies. shame on them.

south indian cinema sure got higher standards compared to bollywood
