Interesting selection of Umpires with England and Australia with a combined nine onfield officials.India has only one.

Sorry GMAH but that sounds needlessly complicated. I think I'll pass completely on the prediction points game and just stick to predicting the winner and MoM of each game. I don't want any points, thank you.

Great to see Afghanistan beat Pakistan. I think there will be some fun games and shock results with Afg around. Welcome aboard, guys!

Good to see SA win as well, though I have nothing against Sri Lanka. SA's confidence will help them in the opening game against England.

Water off a ducks back for Warner he thrives on pommie crowd abuse.

Easy warm up win by Australia without Starc and Cummins.

We can only hope the weather is fair to all teams in this tournament.

Must check past rainfalls for June.

Methinks that there are going to be quite a few unexpected results in this World Cup tournament.

Australia and West Indies are going to perform better than what most people expect. I think South Africa and New Zealand will too.

England and India will not do as well as expectations for the most part. I believe Pakistan and Sri Lanka will do poorly as well.

I am NOT judging based on the warm-up games alone. It is just a feeling that I have had for some time.

given the format of this tournament, some bad weather on the wrong game could ruin it for one of the contenders

imagine not getting full points for a match against a minnow because of rain, when you need to be in the top four to get to the semis.

remember this happened that last time the champions trophy was played in England

Australia are expected to do well and have been pressing England and India for favouritism with all bookmakers for several weeks.

Cross section
England 3.00
India 3.75
Australia 4.25

The rest are 11.00 and over.

These warm up games are deadly serious.
Buttler was very emotional after the Aussie defeat.

As I speak Kohli is grafting an innings against BD as if it were a test match.

Windies were impressive overall in beating NZ. Does anyone know why Kemar Roach bowled only 5 overs? I hope that he has not injured; IMO is a very important asset to the Windies in the 50-over format under English conditions.

Good also to see that Russell has started to do his stuff with the bat. Brathwaite has been a disappointment; perhaps they should have included Pollard as a pure batsman.

England v SA.
Tonight will tell us something about England and the hype surrounding their campaign and their short odds.

SA seem like an ideal litmus test for England will the dipstick come out pink or blue?
I hope it will be acid pink for my hip pockets sake.

Easy for England.
SA's strength is their bowling, not their batting.
Their batting is actually quite pathetic - one of the weakest in the tournament.

England are truly high-quality.
And everyone seems to be in form.

This is certainly England's Cup to lose.

Congratulations, England, on your first World Cup.

SA batting is really a joke.
They have has-been overheads like Amla and Duminy, for starters.
Without ABDV, they look really terrible as a batting line-up.

Disappointed by SA loss; they are better than the results indicate. There was some choking.

I agree that batting first was a very risky decision by SA after winning the toss. Despite what the pundits said about the conditions, SA are never good at chasing (438 was an anomaly; best forget it), especially on foreign wickets. IMO they are much better off taking their chances at setting a target.

Despite the big margin - more of an SA loss than England win really - this England team can be beaten by more hardened teams.

To score 308 against one of the better bowling attacks was very impressive.
After being sent in they blew out from 1.44 to 1.60 such was the toss advantage and when Bairstow went they looked up against getting 300.
Archer was up to it in spades.
I predict an Australia England final agreeing with Mark Waugh's prediction before the toss.

Totally predictable result.

England should win this World Cup comfortably.

Some people are talking about a shock loss in the semis.

But this is not just a VERY good side, they go about their job very professionally too.

I can't see them collapsing like Windies did against India in 1983.

As if they weren't already strong, they now have Jofra Archer.

On what basis are Aussies considered strong contenders?
They're very blow-hot, blow-cold.
More cold, than hot.

There are fundamental weaknesses in this Aussie side.

Of the 5 World Cups that Oz have won, they have been a really strong side just once - in 2003. They somehow manage to win the necessary matches and the Cup.

England have been favourites before and lost - in 1992 for example. Raja should remember that more than anyone else ;) .

There are fundamental weaknesses in this Aussie side.

World Cup squad:

David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (vc), Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff, Adam Zampa, Nathan Lyon.

Australia has won it's last 8 matches against India and the UAE away from home.

I think only England is in better form.

Pakistan is in trouble with 62/4 at 14th. West Indies are using the Condition very well. Pakistani batters should play sensibly.

India, no chance.

Of one thing I am certain. England are not going to win this....or any other Cricket World Cup.

I don't think India will win either. They have enough talent on paper to do it but Kohli is such a bad captain that he will screw-up by making wrong decisions here and there. And he too arrogant to listen to Dhoni's good advice if the older man chooses to give it. If he is snubbed early on, Dhoni might choose to keep his own counsel.

South Africa too have more than enough talent to win it - they always have - but as usual their lack of self-belief will let them down.

Afghanistan - none whatsoever. Their two great spinners cannot make-up for otherwise mediocre bowling and limited batting talent.

Sri Lanka can certainly win a surprise game or two (one of those could be against England) but they will nit be able to garner enough points to make it to the semis.

I like the new responsible Warner and his 89 no. against Afghanistan.
They booed his fifty so who in Australia gives a fig!
Cummins and Starc love these pitches England are serving up.

More cold, than hot.

nearly all of those matches were warm up matches of one form or another...

India rested players, Pakistan fielded a B team and the other matches were official warm ups. Cant read anything into those performances.

Doubt it. Overcast, swinging conditions expected and Rabada et al will rip through BD's batting line-up, especially if they bat first.

I'm talking about series form prior to the WC.

the series against India & Pakistan were not taken seriously by the hosts
