This guy Peter Moor is turning out to be quite a handy wicketkeeper-batsman.
Can't wait for him to be inducted to the ICC Hall of Fame, once he becomes eligible post-retirement.
#IfRodMarshCanAnyoneCan

Btw, looks like Zimbabwe is going the Sri Lanka way.
Brendan Taylor, Peter Moor and Chakabwa all wicketkeepers, though Chakabwa is keeping in this Test.

Due to poor standard domestic cricket Bangladesh test performance is declining day by day. BCB is solely responsible for this. More bad to come.

It is a common problem now. India has it Rayudu, Rahul, Pant and DK when Dhoni keeps.

NZ has it with Nicholls, Latham, Watling, Phillips and Seifert.

Eng has it with Butler, Bairstow, Pope and Billings (soon Foakes).

Aus has it with Handscomb, Carey and Paine.

Basically since the Sanga, Flower, Gilly gen, batsmen like Watling et al took up the gloves to get better chances of selection. The expense has been at the useful part time spin bowler or even medium pacer - the Styris, the Astle, the Harris, the Tendulkar, the Sehwag, the M Waugh, the S Waugh etc.

Game very interestingly poised.
I wouldn't write off Bangladesh.
It's more a game "between the ears" now.

Disappointed.
Not cos Zimbabwe won - but cos we didn't even put up a fight.
I expect better from more experienced players like Mush, Mahmudullah and Imrul.

Having said that, congrats to Zimbabwe.
Happy to see another young leg-spinner emerge on the scene.
Hope this is the start of a lot more that we will see of Mavuta.
Hopefully he will get an IPL contract soon.

So if Zimbabwe win this series, they are the first non-Asian team to win in Asia since?

There might be a more recent occurrence but Alastair Cook's team won in India in 2012-13.

Three fifers in a row for Taijul.
And Mehidy also picks up a few.
Mehidy seems to be a pretty handy allrounder.
64 wickets in 16 Tests, and a batting average of 18.32.
Not bad at all.
Bangladesh seem to produce this type of cricketer every now and then.

I like Bangladesh a lot - far more than I like BCCI cricketers.

Mahumudulah is now test captain for Bangladesh, a batting average of 29, and a bowling average of 46 - is this the first time a guy selected for ordinary fielding has been appointed a test captain?

Or is he some captaincy genius like Mike Brearley?

Taylor is a fine batsman - pity he's played only 28 Tests, considering he's been playing since 2004.

Gavaskar too got a century in each innings twice against the same opposition.
vs West Indies in Port of Spain 1971, and vs West Indies in Calcutta 1978-79.
220 & 124 the first time, 107 & 182* the second time, from what I remember.

I meant against the same opposition.
He had that famous Karachi 1978 case too, though that ended in a losing cause, like Taylor's today.
Although to be fair, in the second innings there, he was given a reprieve by the umpire when he had scored just 1, if I remember right.
Or was it the first innings?
Can't remember now.

Another 100 for Mominul at Chittagong.
This is his 6th 100 in his 8th Test on this ground (14th innings).

I wish someone would love me the way Mominul loves this Chittagong ground. :-)

This is looking like a very interesting game shaping up.

Bangladesh shot out for 125, leaving Windies 204 to win.

Windies 4 down for just 11 at lunch.
Reminded me of THIS Test when England were 4 down for just 8 in their second innings.
I was listening to the radio commentary at the time. :-)
http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1716 ... ia-1976-77

But Hetmyer has come out after lunch clearly with an intention to attack.
2 fours and a 6 off successive deliveries.

32/4 now.
172 more required.

Tense.

Hetmyer gone.
Big, big blow for Windies.
47/5.
Surely Bangladesh will not let Windies get away from this position?
Dowrich can bat, though.

Congratulations, Leo.

Of course, Bangladesh can win a Test against the West Indies.

They're a much-improved side now, although I'd like to see them bat well in BOTH innings of a Test. :-)

Decent set of spinners for home conditions - Taijul and Mehidy have been pretty consistent. And in this Test, Nayeem did well too.

The key now is to win CONSISTENTLY.

Just winning one Test isn't enough.

No, Bangladesh cannot win. Their pipeline of new players are very poor. Their domestic structure is just awful. Any player played 30-40 1st class match in domestic cricket can be consider ready for starting to play test. In BD, playing 100+ 1st class match is not enough. Because, still Bangladeshi domestic cricket is too much below standard.

However, Just winning one test is definitely not enough but according to current situation it is an achievement. Rather appreciating Bangladesh, I would like to criticize West Indies. What are you doing after playing such a long time in sub continent condition? West Indies played against Indian spinner and now you are struggling against BD spinner. Pathetic!!!!

That should be
4
5
30
0
29

To his credit he did get into double figures twice in his 6 innings.
For an opener, playing in his home country, that's an achievement.

The other opener who comes to mind is Gerry Liebenberg whose Test scores read:
0, 45 (Centurion vs SL)
3, 16, 13, 0, 21, 6 (in England)

But I prefer Wally Edwards.
I will always have a soft corner for batsmen in England.
If they fail, I can understand.

Thrilled at this thumping victory.
First-ever innings victory for us.
Hopefully the first of many.

Mehidy Hasan 12-117!
What a performance!
84 wickets in 18 matches now.
Not bad for an allrounder.

Just noticed that every single Bangladesh batsman got into double figures.
India had done this against New Zealand at Kanpur in 1976-77.
They'd got 524/9 declared - with even last man Chandra getting 10*.
The highest score was Mohinder's - but even he got only 70.
Useful contributions all the way.

First-ever innings victory for us.
Hopefully the first of many.

Mehidy Hasan 12-117!
What a performance!
84 wickets in 18 matches now.
Not bad for an allrounder.

He also took 12 wickets vs England here
He liked this ground

Also all 40 wickets picked by Bangladeshi spinner in the series
New record previous record also by BD with 38 wickets in 2 test
Series of 2016
Jason B and Lyon dropped for Zampa and Stanlake

Good point.
2 Tests - 40 wickets to take.
All 40 wickets taken by spinners.
Granted it was only a 2-Test "series", but even so, this might be a record of sorts.

Recently Mashrafe Mortaza has been nominated for National Election for Member of Parliament. The election will be on 30th of this month. he is busy with his election campaign.

Thinking, whether he will be able to concentrate or not.

Well, that will be decided by law of the land and his personal decision. Hope that will not effect his performance.

BTW Shakib was also asked for nomination but later he decided not to go for politics now.
