Dear afghans, don’t win it even if it’s by BCCI screw up to give match on a platter as it would lead to ICC idiots giving you test status that would totally ruin your nascent game. Stick to limited over cricket only as it’s the future. Deliberately perform below par to save your game.

SAY NO TO ANARCHY CALLED TEST CRICKET.

Afghanistan will play test cricket in just 3 days. Who would have thought that just a few years ago? What an incredible journey it has been for our team.

BTW has anyone seen the dokumentary "out of the ashes"? The link is below. Btw I started following Afghanistan cricket at the time this film starts. Well not just quite. I heard the news that Afghanistan had won division 5 in Jersey. Barely chasing 82. I followed ball by ball updates for Division 4 and 3 on cricketeurope.com. For many years it was just scorecards. How times have changed and how quickly.

This is an historic Test match... just as was the recent Ireland one. Play well Afghanistan.

Looking at the scorecard, I'd say we came back well towards the end.
Didn't watch the game.
If we can keep them to under 400, and a couple of our batsmen can click, we can get 300, maybe 350.
Then our bowlers get into the act - and BCCI are shot out for 150.
We then hold our nerve and score the required 200-250.

YESSS! Make it happen, my boys!

Remember that unofficial Test match against Sri Lanka in 1975 when Somachandra De Silva embarrassed the strong batting lineup?
Can happen again.

If Afghanistan score above 150 in any of the two innings it will be a miracle.

Overall I think it was not the worst first day in test cricket.

I thought Afghanistan fought back well in the last session. Even though Kohli is not playing it's a seriously good batting lineup - all the top 8 have at least one Test ton to their name. I will be interested to see how the Afghan batsmen adapt to the longer format tomorrow. I think Stanikazai will need to bat long.

Afghanistan bowled well for their debut test, batting needs to improve.

The batting is going to be a problem for quite some time.

well. that was even brutal.
winning over bangladesh gave some hope but playing test cricket is not for everyone. good that they lost. please don’t push any more test cricket towards the afghans. let them play only limited version of game for atleast 10 more years. By then test cricket would be completely DEAD.

India have handed innings defeat on teams like England, Sri Lanka etc in recent past as well. But those matches lasted for four or five days and so they were considered competitive.

In those matches, India would bat for two days and score more than 600 runs. Here Afghanistan did way better and bowled India out for 474.

It was because they bowled better than other opponents that the match was over earlier. Had they allowed India to score 600 plus like England, Sri Lanka etc then the match would have lasted longer than two days. Then there would have been some rain interruptions etc and then the match would have looked "competitive". I think Afghanistani bowlers' better quality bowling was responsible for this early finish of the match. :)

Good observation you make here. I made the same one previously, and thought India has enough to declare and win by an innings well before they were bowled out.

Of course such declarations are disrespectful and a captain would be rightfully reprimanded for giving a sucker an even break.
