2018 County Cricket thread

Postby Boycs » Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:03 am

For all things county championship, NatWest blast, and whatever the one day comp is called.

University warm up matches are finishing up at the moment, mostly rain affected. Hundreds for Bell and Trott the only interesting batting achievements I’ve seen thus far.

The pre season games in Dubai weren’t headline grabbers from what I recall either.

Don’t forget to join the IHAG if you want!

Steyn and amla are playing a couple of games for Hampshire and Glamorgan have picked up Shaun Marsh it seems. Ross Taylor for Notts, Mitch Marsh and Aaron Finch for Surrey, and Corey Anderson for Somerset. Williamson and Pujara for Yorkshire

Trescothick makes 75 against Ireland this match. Bodes well for my IHAG if he gets some nice gentle form

Sam Robson has taken a century off a university too. I wonder if he is still in selectors heads as they scrabble for replacements in England’s leaky lineup

Ishant Sharma, who wasn't picked up for IPL this time, has started off well with 5 wickets in his debut match for Sussex.

It could also be a cunning ploy by England to give him a boost, so that he gets picked in the upcoming Test series. :-)

That is some deep batting order with Wiese at 9 (and scoring a ton to boot).
Law 31.6 - benefit of the doubt for an dismissal appeal goes to the batsman
A third umpire call for a run out or stumping is a referral, not a review.

NZ 12th man specialist, Matt Henry has taken 19 wickets at 7.5 after two county rounds.

They're giving him runs now, the cunning and tricky Imperialists clearly want him and not Pandya to replace Jadeja or Ashwin from the second spinner spot.
