Young Crane did what the other English debutant Curran did .. oversteeping on a wicket deleivery. I have to question tho whether Ussy play a shot or not as he was clearly hit outside the line.

Still has the second innings to knock off Morris and perhaps a couple of others.

We have to bat last on this pitch - with Smith's poor form, failing in the 1st innings and all, can't see us holding out.
We managed at the MCG but here at the SCG, it would be a Harbour Bridge too far.
3-1.
Congrats, Boycs.

I haven't been following this Test much but I believe the Aussies (as usual) dropped easy chances, allowing England to get to 346.
That's one of my complaints about this side - not sharp enough in the field.
An Allan Border as captain would've had a lot to say about this.

“He just makes things happen with his bowling”

Why does he average over forty with the ball then?

Is this the Vince selection all over again?

To be fair I’ve watched three balls and he’s beat the bat twice....

400/4 easy singles everywhere and almost a boundary every over at the moment. The twin engine Marsh plane is motoring on.

Aussie pitches in general are a joke, surprised Smith is the only one cashing in, really shows the rest suck when we go to India or England or such places.

Australian pitches will ruin Test cricket.

This Test is following a similar scenario to previous ones. The Marsh boys should put the game out of England's reach tomorrow morning.

I wonder sometimes whether English batsmen don’t know quite whether to stick or twist on flat decks. Not used to it.

Hmmm....... England spinners have taken 2-260. We're gonna get a total hammering here. Really difficult watch. Bowlers kept plugging away but we just dont look good enough. Innings defeat. Demoralising stuff. Glad when its all over.

England need to go back to basics, they were never going to go well picking two ordinary allrounders in Ali and Woakes. If you don't have the quality pick 6 batsmen 4 bowlers and a wicketkeeper.

If Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon and Starc take all 10 wickets in the second innings, it will be the first time that four bowlers have taken every wicket for their team in a five-test series.
A very interesting stat. Also if Lyon can get two more poles and Cummins one in the Pom second innings it will be only the third time in cricket history that a four pronged attack has each taken 20 series wickets.

Australian pitches will ruin Test cricket.
Gotta agree. CA has had plenty in its coffers over the years. Should have built a couple of cricket only venues which would have meant these other sports (AFL) were locked out so no need for these rotten drop ins. Also why did a cashed up Kerry Packer not build cricket only venues for World Series Cricket. Only three of our six Test venues are now natural turf wickets.

Am I the only one here who thinks England can, and will, pull off a sensational win here.
All they need to do is to set Australia 150-170 here.
If Michael Clarke could run through the famed BCCI batting line-up on this ground, why not Ali/Crane/Root run through this far weaker Aussie line-up?
3-1 coming up.
Congrats, Boycs!

Just checked stats of the Marsh brothers and find that this is Mitch's 24th Test.
And Shaun's 28th.
Ok, 28 for Shaun sounds right, but 24 for Mitch?

Steve Smith has taken another step on the road to greatness, becoming the equal second fastest man to ever reach 6000 Test runs from innings batted.

Smith brought up run #6000 on Friday at the SCG with a pull down the legside against Mason Crane. It has only taken him 111 innings to get there – as many as Garfield Sobers and 43 more than Don Bradman. That is remarkable considering he started his Test career as a leg-spinning all-rounder at No.8, did not score his first ton until his 23rd innings and reach 1000 runs until his 32nd.

This is Mitch's second coming as a test player. He was an abject failure first time round. Looked stiff at the crease and played accordingly. He has always had the power and timing but his main problem was in defence.. went too hard at the ball. He also was impatient by wafting at balls he should leave. Now the powerfully built all rounder looks a completly different player. He has solidified his defence, is more patient and is definitely more relaxed. The thing I like about him is the mature way he has learnt to adapt to any situation.. al la his beligerent big ton in Perth and his stonewall knock to help draw the Melbourne Test.

I like Bairstow's intent. Would have had SOS on his way if hit. Good effort.

Baggies need to run England ragged in this heat.

That is special Mitch.

Evidently they join Chappell and Waugh brothers as only siblings to score Test 100s in the same innings.

SOs is 34 year 182 days old, he probably have one more ashes left before NSW’s Patterson take over his place in Australian
Test team,i do not think he can break his own record of 182 in Test or 186 List A Record today.

I think SOS can break that record if Smith bats on after lunch. He is in career best form.

Crane is going to get massacred. Over four and a half an over I predict.

I was close. 1/193 at 4.02 an over.
