he's not a cricketer, he's a T20 player

this guy has had more chances from selectors than any other player I can remember in the history of Australian cricket

does anyone think Travis Head would've averaged more than 22 had he been selected for the World Cup in Maxwell's place?

maxwell must be great sucker just like Kartik (on zero) who batted 21 balls besides 5 maiden over by NZ bowler and 3 ball spares = "54 balls india not able to score"

last two matches its been the batting which has cost Australia which I've predicted all tournament

you can't carry two batsmen in the top 6 (or 7) who are doing next to nothing for a whole tournament and expect to win it

I have no doubt there's been some infighting and disharmony

England peaked at just the right time.
Their last few games have all been knock-out games, so they've been mentally prepared to deal with the pressure.

BCCI and Australia, OTOH, qualified comfortably.
Till then ran into a game that would knock them out.
Couldn't deal with it.

To be fair to NZ and England, their bowlers raised their game in the semis.
BCCI were 5/3 and 24/4 - just got blown away.
Today both Finch and Warner got out early - from there on, it was always going to be difficult for the Aussies to get a big enough score that they could hope to defend.

Yes Travis was dead set robbed by CA selectors.
Stoinis and Maxie are FTB's.

Finch is not an opener.

Finch had a good tournament, I wouldn't be so harsh on him. His worst flaw was backing Maxwell all the way at selection.

Lotta ex players in Qld think he should replace Maxwell down the order and Khawaja to open.

I disagree because his numbers show during this tournament he was an effective opener. A lot of ex players were involved in selection and have been shown to have been way off the mark.

Khawaja and Smith had average, but not poor tournaments. You're going to lose some early wickets sometimes.

Where Khawaja and Smith go (or should've gone) in the batting order is a popular talking point, but for me the glaring weakness all tournament has been Stoinis and Maxwell consistent walking wickets in the middle order and to a lesser extent... really no batting at all from #8 down which is too high for a procession of batting bunnies to begin in ODI cricket. Starc was the only member of the tail that showed anything, but really he's no better than a #9 or #10.

Stoinis and Maxwell's bowling too hasn't been of that high quality to have to carry them as hopeful allrounders.

This outcome however has all been the result of poor planning for this tournament. We've taken too many bilateral ODI series for granted and rested players while not having any idea what is our best line up for English conditions at a world cup. A series against NZ in the lead up probably would've been more value than going to the UAE or India.

I actually think NCN would've given us more than Stoinis as an allrounder... not that he's necessarily the best option available either.

It seems half this squad has been chosen based on Shane Warne's gut feelings which change with the weather and how much sauce he's had any given week.

For any side, ODI or Test we should be selecting players who are highly skilled and match aware, who have the runs or wickets on the board. Particularly a world cup we should only be selecting proven players... not based on potential as its very difficult to change up a squad after the tournament has begun. Look at who we've had in the past in Maxwell's position...players like Andrew Symonds... who may not have been a great test player, but he was a reasonable test player. He had the ability to play a long innings against a good attack... He was an accomplished proven batsman....but he was our slogger/finisher... not to mention his other attributes in the field and with the ball.

Even James Faulkner had a better batting temperament in that position.

Finch has a weakness that an opener should never have and that is getting out early.
SA and England know this and exploit it.

Anderson openly confessed about aus 60 all out >( Broad took 8 odd in an innings)
Jimmy was not playing that test"" we doctored track, nothing wrong about it, india doing same in india, why ball turn about foot in 3rd over? it should turn on 3rd day only""

"" i Assumed they doctored the track with the help of curator in worldcup Last few matches.

Only 10 minutes break given to indians were the plan by Ecb 's curator so india
have to play on wet track which suits fast bowlers.( umpires not shaw up to inspects track which was socked for 13 hours rain )

rf nz >> 211/5>> 239/8=off 23 balls
ind >> 26/4 >>First 45 minutes batting results was set>>> world cup not have rules of innings starts with-in 10 minutes when ind.deserved good 45 minutes break between innings

Henry not as good but wet track dose the trick.

LOL

the entire World Cup format was tailored based on BCCI's requests because of previous early eliminations and they still couldn't qualify :lmao:
