On a wicket that was still really very good for batting.
Clearly England failed the Chase.
Chase hardly got any turn - and some of England's batsmen got out playing for the turn. :-)

The margin of 381 with more than a day to spare, leaves a sense of "what might've been" in my mind.
If Holder hadn't declared, they could've got another 300 runs, and the margin of defeat would've been 681.
Holder would've got a triple.

But I guess I need to be happy with just this much.

This is the only good thing that's happened in cricket since Australia beat BCCI at Perth.

Will have fond memories of this Test for a long time.

Holder could have got a tripple - the first by a number 8 ever...

Forget about even 250
england will win series 2019 in westindies
noi am not raja pai

buttler think team selection get nothing to do with 77 all out while Root insist team selection
wrong.

i know eng will win next test and series.

They had a practice match on 2/17 right in the middle of tour? WTF.

THEY SURE NEEDED THAT FKKING PRACTICE BEFORE THE 1ST TEST

I hated it happen on all tours. Lame planning.

2nd Test, Antigua.

England totally on top with Bairstow going great guns.

Btw, just noticed that Root's Test average has dipped below 50.

So current players with an average of 50+ :
Steve Smith
Virat Kohli
Kane Williamson
Cheteswar Pujara
AB De Villiers

Has ABDV retired from Tests?
I know he didn't play against Pakistan in the recent series but I remember he did play against BCCI and Australia.
If he's announced his retirement, I seem to have missed that news.

Retired from all intls. Did so after Australia toured SA last year.

Won't be at World Cup. It would be nice if he played the World T20 in 2020 - but doubtful.

England from 78/5 and 93/6 are salavaged a tad by Moeen making 60 to 187 all out. Curran batting 9 got another failure scoring just 6 runs. With Woakes in the squad, there is pressure on his selection one must think.

Curran was huge vs India, and massive vs Sri Lanka, but with this depth of Stokes, Woakes and England playing Foakes despite Buttler and Bairstow being in the team, Curran with his limited bowling has to make runs consistently to retain a spot ahead of Woakes.

There is no doubt in my mind to Woakes' batting pedigree neither. A very very good batsman for someone who's primary role is bowling...

England rolled again. Everyone seems to focus on England's failings - the real question for me is - are Holder, Roach, Gabriel and Joseph making the WI a difficult tour now?

Their fightback started last year vs Bang and SL, and they ended up drawing the series to SL. The WI still lacked runs. But now they're rolling England with ease this year...

I think I missed that.
For a player of his stature, it's been a relatively quiet farewell, hasn't it?
Or maybe it's just me, not following the news very closely. :-)

So this was a THREE day Test? GS would be having a right royal laugh. :-)

Day-1: England rolled over
Day-2 Windies survive, get a lead
Day-3: England rolled over again, Windies win

From all accounts, this was a wicket that offered help to the quicks - on both sides.
Windies capitalised on it, exposing England batsmen.
England bowlers too bowled well, but Windies just about managed to hang in there and frustrate the bowlers.
So on balance, Windies batsmen, very surprisingly, showed greater application and skill than England batsmen?

The Windies pace attack right now looks quite exciting.
BCCI tour the Windies after the World Cup.
Though it's only for 2 Tests, I hope this attack can keep up this quality.
Will test BCCI's strong line-up.
BCCI would still win the series, but it would be more fun than recent series between these two sides.

There's no team the Windies get more satisfaction from beating, than England.
Many ex-players, including Lloyd and Richards, have said this.

But what the Windies captain, Holder, and supporters will find particularly satisfying is that in the 2 Tests, everybody has done his bit.

Darren Bravo didn't contribute in the Bridgetown Test but he came good in Antigua.

Brathwaite and Campbell have had very valuable opening partnerships - how often have we seen recent Windies sides give up a bowling advantage by having their openers very cheaply dismissed! This time, even if their partnerships weren't massive, they were good enough to see off early England hostility and set a platform the remaining batsmen.

Shai Hope hasn't been spectacular, but has definitely done a decent job. Importantly he hasn't failed. Against this quality England attack, if you can just frustrate the bowlers, you're already contributing to your side.

Ditto for Hetmyer, though I think he needs to put a price on his wicket. Will hopefully learn - is still very young.

The quicks have been VERY good. Chase did his bit in Bridgetown.

Dowrich and Holder had that massive partnership in Bridgetown. Holder has been in the wickets in both Tests.

I like the look of this Campbell guy. He's only 25 - I hope he is a stayer.

All in all, I like the look of this Windies side.

Now all they need to do is keep giving us such performances.

Obviously they will not always win, but if they can show the intent they've shown in these two Tests, they will win a lot of hearts.

West Indies cricket has had many false dawns, so I am not going to predict another one - will just wait and watch.

And (Shai) Hope for the (Tino) Best. :-)

Was just checking out the age of these Windies players - and am really surprised to see how young they are.

The oldest are the quicks, Roach and Gabriel - and they are 30!

Brathwaite 26
Campbell 25
Shai Hope 25
Darren Bravo 29
Roston Chase 26
Hetmyer 22
Dowrich 27
Holder 27
Roach 30
Joseph 22
Gabriel 30

----

The problem is, though Roach and Gabriel seem to be in great form, how long can they go on, now that they are 30?
Who are the Windies reserve quicks?

Awesome West Indies team. Kudos!!

Hahahahaha

ECB scratching butt on figuring out what went wrong.

Atrocious batting is a start.

I am sure Aussie Ashes fans would be laughing their ass off on this ECB team now.

3 days only to wrap up this pathetic ECB team.

ROFL

Surprised by England capitulation, happy for West Indies.

England have hit bad form at the wrong time, this may rub off on ODI and WC chances.

Different formats, different squads, different conditions....I don't think this tour will have the slightest impact on England's World Cup preparation/chances.

They're still the team to beat.

This is crazy.
Windies wrapped up the Test in THREE days - and Holder is being punished for slow overrates!

Terribly harsh punishment - to miss a Test for this.

Ridiculous to ban a player for slow over-rate in a game that got over in 3 days!
