A little game for you. Name the home grown Caucasian Canadians from that squad. This is what is wrong with cricket today. Not sufficient effort is being made by the games custodians to entice home grown men and women to play this great sport. Many European National sides are also top heavy with players from Sub Continental backgrounds.
This Canadian team isn't white enough for you Baggy? That seems just a tad racist to me.
Caucasian Canadians are probably far more interested in playing baseball than cricket and have dreams of playing in the MLB. Either way, winter's gridiron and summer's baseball take a back seat in Canadian mainstream importance to their winter national sport of Ice Hockey. This is a under 19 team event, are you suggesting that these kids are not home grown talent to play for Canada?
Sub continentals love cricket. Sub Continentals are good at cricket. Sub continentals have migrated. Sub continentals are bringing and furthering cricket with them to places they migrate to. I think you best learn to deal with it or start following a different sport. Ice Hockey is good if you only enjoy watching white people play sport.
Akash Gill - born Ontario
Arslan Khan - born Ontario
Aran Pathmanathan - born Ontario
Rishiv Joshi - born Ontario
Faisal Jamkhandi - born Ontario
Some foreign births - migration dates unknown:
Kavian Naress - born Germany (at one time a proud Caucasian nation if there was ever)
and finally -
Rommel Shahzad - born Karachi
I'd be more concerned with the Ontario dominance in selection if I was a Canadian cricket fan. Time to grow it in the rest of the states.
If USA Cricket is to ever grow again to being internationally competitive, like Canada is already seeking to do, I'd wager it is much through the efforts of sub-continental migrants to develop a club, domestic and ultimately a national structure of cricket teams and players to get it humming. Significant West Indian migrant flavour too. Even if they then subsequently get overrun with a lot of failed mainstream American MLB aspirants now seeking to further their opportunities as professional sportsmen and seek ways to utilize their existing skills in cricket as both fast bowlers and power batting hitters who seek to earn t20 franchise wages.

Aussies 370..PNG 59. Just a lazy 300+ run victory. Aussie side will not win the WC. I am tipping India or England. Kiwis with a show too.

Havn't seen England play - but India look strong. Safrica v NZ will reveal more who their main threat is. Afg have already caused a big upset.

No not racist Paddles disappointed. I had no doubt some of them are Canadian born. Yes most caucasian Canadians do aspire to a NRL or hockey career. That is my point..the game's custodians ICC or MCC should be encouraging the white Canadian or European player to pursue cricket over more traditional sports.

I'm sure they do within their budgetary confines. But you can't help who wants to play regardless (nor who is the best).
You're going to see even more sub - continental origin players in the NZ team in the future. They far outweigh the club players proportionate to national population. And they will continue to appear in Eng and SA teams, maybe even in an increasing rate.

This is posted mainly for Bolero's benefit as he seems to be fond of Indo-origin cricketing success stories globally.
For those not aware, Rachin Ravindra had been touted as NZ's next KW. But he broke a lot of hearts 2 years ago when he largely failed in the U19 WC.
However, this WC, he is starring with both bat and ball for NZ. His dad is a former team mate and still good friend of Javagal Srinath, who is so into helping his son develop his game, he started a cricket club and has them tour India on playing holidays.

Young Baggies bowled out for a lame 133 by the Poms. Only the class of Sangha shone thru with a polished half ton. I missed the early start.. was it a green top?
Just took a look at the deck.. no green top.. just good bowling and poor batting. Our attack looks rather pedstrian too.. Evans and Hadley not up to WC standard I am afraid. Poms will spank our bums here and should play in the final.

Poor stroke selection by Australians but I do not know why McSWEENEY bats lower down, Other day he opened with 156
You and I both. Having two hitters in Edwards and Bryant opening the batting is too big a risk.

been a couple of years since we’ve had a “next Warne”
and even longer since we’ve seen a ginger scrawn,
Pick up a ball, tweak it til pundits fawn,
And herald the coming of a new spinning dawn.

the slip fielder for Australia, Sangha had an excellent match too in the field. some excellent catches, Mark Butcher I think said he had fly paper for hands.
I worry about Pope's longevity in the game. Such fair skin to be standing out in Australian sun for too long. I guess his parents must be from British Isles, maybe he should activate that option and play his senior cricket in more hospitable conditions for his complexion.

Katto how dare that Tele journo plagarise my moniker for Lloyd Pope. You heard it here first folks "ginja ninja".
That was indeed a Warne like display Boycs..and yes he does have a super wrong'n (googly). The man not mentioned here is Baxter Holt who kept superbly to Pope. Another good prospect for us.

Mujeeb has wrecked the NZ top order.
His stock balls are the googly and carom. He bowls the leg and off break as variations.

Where are the famous seaming decks of NZ? These look tailor made for spin and are playing into the hands of the sub continental teams. The seamers are barely getting a look in. Other than Pope and Param who else in the Aussie camp bowls spin? We will need them come semi time.

Kiwis bundled out of the WC. Bugger just heard we will play the Afghans in the semi. How is our spin play? It will need to be better than the baby Black Caps displayed that is for certain.

I know I'm coming late to the party, but it's a party that I just have to attend. :-)
Haven't been following this U19 World Cup much, but this match has got to be the highlight of it for me.
Chasing 127, and being 47 without loss at one stage...
Memories of the Eng-Aus semi-final in the inaugural World Cup of 1975, when Gary Gilmour suddenly erupted on the world stage.

What we need a some western coach or a sports institute to coach him into specializing into either leg or off spin, the way the rest of the world has done it hundreds of years, and to get him to stop with this "I'm a wrist and finger spinner both" nonsense and make it far easier for the batsmen play. Maybe an ICC rule may come into force that means he has to not only which side of the wicket he will bowl from, but what delivery he is bowling too, wrist or finger, or even precisely announce the delivery as googly, carrom, leg, flipper or off.
Do we really want a 16 year old doing this in ODI?

Bangladeshis have been trying to beat India in all levels of cricket for ages. They sometimes succeed once in ten attempts when Indians get complacent. Not this time.

Three Asian teams in semi finals. But I will not be surprised in the lone non Asian team wins it. Yes the same team that lost to India by 100 runs in their first match.

Bangladesh were overconfident after they bundled out India under 19 from Asia Cup.But that team was a B team, it didn't have guys like Prithvi Shaw.

to be expected. The subcontinental players, esp Afghans and Pakistanis develop physically sooner than anglos.

Big game for the "Baby Baggies" today. They have to find a way to play the Afghan mystery spinner or say sayonara to the WC.

Again our opening attack of Hadley and Evans have failed to make early inroads.Has been left to the under rated Jonathan Merlo to do the damage. Pope struggling against good players of spin.

Hadley and Evans have three wickets between them for the WC. Why was Ralston not playing here? He has been our best paceman.

Pakistan were Australia's opposition in the final of the last WC held in NZ.. back in 2010. Team was led by Mitch Marsh.
