Bangladesh opener, Tamim Iqbal, announced his retirement from T20 Internationals on conclusion of the ODI series against West Indies on Saturday (July 16).

Tamim, the ODI skipper of Bangladesh, posted a status on his official Facebook page stating that he had retired from international T20s after cleanly sweeping away the West Indians in the three-match ODI series in Guyana.

"Please consider me retired from T20Is from today. Thank you everyone," Tamim wrote on his official Facebook page in Bangla.

Tamim on January 27 took a six-month break from T20I's, though he played a domestic T20 tournament during this period.

Earlier, Tamim stated that he would clear his position regarding his T20I future before the six-month deadline ended after confusion surrounding it.

Tamim played 78 T20Is and scored 1758 runs at an average of 24.08 and a strike-rate of 117.2 that included one century and seven fifties.
