America's Cup - Sailing

Postby Paddles » Sat Jun 03, 2017 3:05 pm

Team NZ is in form at the qualifiers and at time of writing are 8-1 and leading the Louis Vuitton qualifiers which include Team USA defenders.

Gotta say that I really like the new boats, they're so fast and agile! And the sailing is very aggressive.
Elite honesty:
At the toss Faf said to Finch that you lads can bat - Finch replied "no, no we can't-we really can't".

Finch then saw Travis Head and Darcy Short start put on sun screen and said "Getting a bit optimistic aren't you?"

Sweden knocked out Japan to face NZ, but then;

NZ knocks out Sweden to compete for the Auld Mug vs Team USA.

Team USA as defender in charge of the rules is 1-0 up before they start racing on the water.

Hostilites between NZ and Team USA are high, with Team USA having former Kiwi defector Russell Coutts as an executive and declaring that they do not was NZ to host a cup again for the good of the cup. NZ refused to sign on Team USA's terms for subsequent regattas, and the levels of animosity are high, to the point that when Kiwi defector Dean Barker, skipper of Japan, agreed to stay on and help Team USA practice for the finals, it barely touched a nerve in Kiwi fans.

NZ and USA sailing for the America's Cup has a long history of vitriol and court litigation. Basically if NZ win, the cup is there's to do with as they plese as Team USA has been doing previously.

C'mon Team NZ.

Team NZ beat Team USA in first final to go 0-0 and wipe out the defender's advantage. Even stevens now.

NZ win 2nd race to boot.

NZ 1 USA 0

First to 7 wins.

Be great for NZ to bring the cup back and host a defence regatta.
