used to watch it when i was younger but then realised they're all doped up to the eyeballs.

seen it once seen em all, and swimming is over-hyped and boring really - if you disregard the orgasmic commentary

I'll watch a bit of the basketball thats it. At least that requires some skill.

The 7 coverage is atrocious too, if you become an olympic addict you'll end up watching more commercials and replays than anything else.

I agree. All these dopey sportspersons made me repulse at olympics. I feel sad for genuine non dope players & question every winner with doubt thus can't enjoy. Heard entire Russian contingent dope experts with state sponsored advanced non detectable stuff for many years.

Cmon now, hardly any are doping, they banned almost the whole of the Russia team to make a stand. There stamping down.

I watched synchrone diving, china won of course. And archery. Those requires other skills then pure physical strength or stamina that you can improve by doping.

Cycling, Swimming, Running cannot really be enjoyed because you know back of your head that at least half the winners are doped.

What's with water quality for swimmers? Should they ban all kinds of swim competitions too? That river is cesspool of slime, not even animals go for a drink, forget humans.

nope, they're only banning Russia because of politics. it has nothing to do with cleaning up the olympics.

look at the dutch female sprinter and tell me she's not doping

Your very negative about elite athletes Katto.

not negative, just not naive
I've been around too long - seen too many things.

Marion Jones never failed a drug test. She outed herself. Its too easy to get away with it and the IOC turn a blind eye unless politics are involved.

So much money involved in athletics these days with the pro league, the incentive to get on the gear to compete is too high. Its their living and the sporting apparel manufacturers are highly invested in their superstars breaking world records on a regular basis.

I saw Men 75kg weightlifting. The Chinese guy was leading by big margin, but then came the Kazakistani guy and broke a record in jerk and clean from 2001 by 4 kilos and won ahead of the chinese guy.

I straight away thought that guy must be on something.

Doping is big problem in weightlifting, especially Russian, Kazak and probably many other nation lifters.

UK has done very well so far. Hats Off to the Island Nation.
Shame that India has not been able to any thing to talk about in Olympics. Years of forcing kids to just study and to do jobs have taken its toll. Not to mention the poor physique etc.

Just came across haryanvi scam. 30 odd players injected illegally to your rio and the joke is that a haryanvi minister with his 20+ entourage is sent to support them, none ever played in any sport in their life, all with govt expenses.

Yet they are better than Indians.

BTW, what's wrong with the Chinese in this Olympics? So few medals?
This make me question all the medals they got in previous olympics, undeserved? Doped?

when a nation hosts the Olympics there's almost always a massive funding boost to ensure the home team does well.

Often there is a knock on effect to the following Olympics, then a drop off the Olympics afterward.

Brazil I think have been an exception because they've done everything on the cheap.

Looks like South China Sea dispute playing in the minds of Chinese sports persons.
As far as Indians are concerned. For them this month is "Ashada" month and bringing "Gold" in home is inauspicious... Hence no Gold Medals. Indiana don't like Silver or Bronze...
