FIXED? NRL 'Greatest Ever' Grand Final, but media pundits are suggesting should Australia top the group they have an easy route to the final.
I'd caution against that mentality as France have a good record in World Cups and are definitely one of the big teams in it.

Yes it was fixed because NSW couldn't make the finals despite owning the competition teamwise. :lmao:

Didn't catch the Wales vs Australia game live but saw bit of the replay. Wales screwed up big time when they had Australia to 13 men. Rather than spreading it wide and using the number advantage, they kept trying to go through the middle. A full strength Welsh backline wouldn't have made the same mistake. Saying that the Australian defense particularly on their own try line was amazing.

Now they can more or less cruise to the finals. Scotland shouldn't trouble them and they should put away Ireland/ France/ Argentina as well. The best thing about the group of death was that the winner was always going to get a nicer ride to the finals.

they went wide on a few occasions. they even got over the try line at least twice, maybe 3 times
once they dropped the ball, other times they were held up from grounding it

incredible defending from wallabies, like they were playing for their lives

yeah totally and not denying it
Rugby is a once in four years interest to me. Couldnt really give a f**k about it at other times, but there's something special about the world cup, although the last one was a bit of a damp squib maybe ruined by the earthquake - this current edition has exceeded expectations and this current coach seems to have the wallabies playing a better brand than they have since Eddie Jones era.

I need to watch more Super Rugby. I like how open Southern Hemisphere rugby is compared to the Six Nations for instance. After that 10 minute defensive stand you could see how happy Australia was to get out with the ball and open it up. Refreshing and keeps the game exciting.

Or I could go to the dark side and watch League which seems more open in general.

You need an internal competition like the NZ ITM Cup to develop players. Rugby League is played mainly in two states but has a superb interclub competition and is a better game to follow. Union has nothing comparable to the ITM the NRL or the AFL or even Soccer.

Of course the Irish brought a bastardisation of their game to Australia early on and formed the AFL thus robbing the other footy codes of the all best talent including cricket.

Three tries for Australia and Foley has missed all three conversions.

Scotland ahead 16-15 at the half. Good game this one.

I've seen it in soccer too
a goal is scored and the commentator calls goal and the player hasnt even kicked it yet

always seems to happen with big games like world cups when they f**k this sh*t up

Australia lose out on the try after a poor knock on was caught.

Love the open play from Australia though. The way the wide guys approach the line with such quickness as the ball is being taken from the ground.

Oh noooooo! Australia give up a turnover and it's an easy try. Scotland up 34-32 with a six minutes to go.

Bakc and forth and back and forth. Scotland knock on and Foley has a chance to win it. It's good! Australia 35-34 with less than a minute.

Poor poor Scotland. What a match though. Lots of lead changes, each team fighting hard, taking advantage of mistakes. One final mistake gives Australia the game and Foley makes it when it counts.

i'd given up on them

wallabies have had a partisan crowd against them in every match and semi will be no different and if they make the final no different

the most hated team in the tournament, its tough to win against that kind of momentum

reminded me a bit of 1991 QF against unheralded Ireland. Ireland played above themselves and the Wallabies won from a try in the last minute

Wasn't expecting the results today at all. I thought Argentina might sneak in. Did not expect that scoreline.

I thought Australia are going to thrash Scotland. In the end they are pretty lucky to get through at all!

All SH semi finals. The NH teams need a lesson on how to play rugby.

I dont think they took them lightly. Scotland have a good record against Australia, they just played well with a partisan crowd behind them. It was still 5 tries to 2, but the northern hemisphere teams seem more adept at picking up penalties and kicking.
