I've got a feeling this is the start of something big.

Also, what are the sharks most commonly referred to as (by fans)
Is it the sharks? Or Cronulla? Does anyone use Sutherland at all?

They dropped the Sutherland suffix a few years ago.
I think most fans refer to them as the Sharks

Three games of NRL today
Parramatta Eels vs Wests Tigers
NZ Warriors vs Melbourne Storm
Penrith Panthers vs Nth Queensland Cowboys
What better way to pay respect to the ressurection of our Lord and Saviour then Three cracking games of Rugby League

I always thought he was resurrected on the Monday. I 'm not sure as I walked away from Christianity years ago.
South Sydney or St George are both traditional Christian Sydney clubs. Maybe he follows those

I thought Easter sunday was when he was resurrected.. may be I am wrong. I am assuming by resurrected you mean when he came back alive and then ascended to heaven.. Good friday was when he died on the cross and Sunday was when he came back alive and then ascended to the heaven alive is what I understand.

Re: Other Sports - NRL
I am partly right and partly wrong per the wiki
This part I am correct.
Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, two days after Good Friday, the day of his crucifixion. Easter's date corresponds roughly with Passover, the Jewish observance associated with the Exodus, that is fixed for the night of the Full moon near the time of the spring equinox.
Where I am wrong is, he did not ascend to heaven immediately. It was 40 days after.

Well you do have 26th dec as holiday too..
in USA monday after easter and the day after christmas are WORKING day (unless 26th dec falls on a weekend). It is a different story that except essential work (or if a gun is held to the persons head), people do not show up to work or even if at work, do actually anything except while their time away and nurse their hangovers.

How many times a year do they play each other? Doesn't it get boring watching the same teams going at each other a few times every year? Never got professional football. How do you decide to support a team? By whichever team's winning the most?

Re: Other Sports - NRL
They meet 2 time at least every year and potentially can meet up to 8 times.
They met first time 1902 for exhibition match and since have played 262 games.
Does it get boring? No! Not only does these two play the best football in the world. The quality is better then World Cups etc. but there is lot's of history and political issues involved. Madrid represents the central power and Barcelona represents the Catalans who want's independence from Spain.
Football match is 90 minutes, so even if it's boring it's over pretty quickly.
How you become a fan? Well most people support the team of their city. and there could be various other reasons..
I watched Europa cup 2000 and become a fan of Figo and later I saw him play for Real Madrid. My father was big Zidane fan, so when he joined Real Madrid we would never miss a game and before I knew it I was big fan. My younger brother followed and now one of my sisters is also big fan of Real Madrid because I always used to sit and watch their games.

They had nothing In attack, should never have got rid of Carney.
For everyone that doesn't know Carney got sacked because his mate leaked this photo on social media.

His in the best 3 halves in the Nrl, currently playing in England, I think if someone wants to piss in there own mouth let them go for it.
In bad news for the Sharks he won a unfair dismissal case and will probably be back in the Nrl but will be up against the Sharks, more then likly.

Round 1 kicks off this Thursday with defending Premiers Cronulla taking on competition heavyweights Brisbane at Southern Cross Bogan tattoo stadium.
I'm pretty excited. Rugby League and Test match cricket on the same weekend. Might need a spare pair of Undies

Re: Other Sports - NRL
Well the Broncos did enough in the end to overcome last years premiers Cronulla. Running out 26-18 winners in a somewhat dour affair. Anthony Milford sealed the win with a brilliant solo effort. Beating 5 men to score next to the posts in the 68th minute.
Tonight's game was a rugged affair with both packs of Forwards getting stuck in. Poor ball handling and silly 5th tackle options hurt both sides. Both will be better for the run.
Games tomorrow night are
Canterbury Bulldogs v Melbourne Storm at Belmore and South Sydney v Wests Tigers at the Sydney Football Stadium

Bailey what can I say.. Panthers flogged by a side that everyone was saying would get flogged . Like Mick I was holding out till 2018 when we hopefully get a decent half and organiser to aid Widdop after years of that ad lib man Benji Marshall.
I am a 50+ year Dragons diehard. Watched some of the greatest ever matches at the end of their world record reign. Braved the atrocious conditions in the 1963 GF when we thumped the Maggies. Was one of the record GF crowd that witnessed the triumphant 1965 Dragons hammer the Rabbits. Started my scrap book when I went to Norm Provans Kogarah shop and asked him to sign it. I was 9 from memory and barely reached "Sticks" waist. I was devastated when the club sold its soul in 1999.

Baggers i don't think that there is any coincidence that 1967 is the year the streak ended and is the same year Cronulla joined and "ST George" last won the premiership in 1979 only 3 seasons before Illawarra joined, thus taking the bulk of the Dragons best talent pool.

Good point Mick. Quite a few Dragons, Reg Gasnier for one, lived in the Cronulla/Sutherland district at the time the Sharks were born. I recall we lost Monty Porter to them. There were others..slipped my mind exactly who. The introduction of the restricted tackle rule also added to their downfall.

The Dragons will be no easy beats this season. They aim to be one of the fittest teams in the comp since taking on a former AFL fitness guru. Their problem last few seasons has been scoring points. Showed last nite that that could be a thing of the past. They have obviously being working hard on defense too in the off season.

How many good club men is Peter Doust going to let go at the end of the year? We have quite a few off contract. Widdop, De Belin I think are two of them. The club must retain both these kingpins of our club. We do not want them to be added to the long list that have been forced from this famous club over recent years..Trent Merrin, Brett Morris and Jack Bird just three of those quality players lost.

The Eels this Sunday at WIN. No doubt we will sacrifice the iconic Red V for the all red jumper.
Dragons have picked an unchanged 13. Power running big bopper Luci Leilua has a chance to make the 17. What about big Mose when does he get to play first grade?

Spot on Mick. Despite all the venom spat at Doust by disgruntled Dragons supporters he inexplicably still remains as head honcho.. Does the fact that the majority of Red V members hate the blokes innards not mean a thing to the Board? Have you not seen the OUST DOUST signs at every Dragons game, the people camped outside the Taj Mahal waving placards and calling for this joke and his recruitment cronies to resign? Tune into the OUST DOUST campaign on Twitter. Hello Lockwood smell the daisies.
