Buying mediocre forwards will not help. Recruit some players in the mould of workaholics like Jack De Belin and Merrin before him. Jack even has to do a good bit of the distribution because we have a clueless half.

Good win by the Dragons Baggers? 16-10 over the neighbors.

Yeh I will take that Mick. Where was killer instinct. Dragons had a solid lead at lemons but let the Sharkies back into it.

I was reading that Kogarah Oval is somewhat of a fortress for the Dragons. Since 2014 the Red V have won a whopping 77% of their games. Amazing what having a spiritual home will do for a club. Never, never move games from suburban grounds.

Dragons at home to the NZ Warriors tonite. Go you good things

I turned the TV over to have a look at the Dragons-Warriors game and what team is the Warriors playing? How the F..k did they come up with that abomination of a jersey, it's got nothing to do with the history of either St George or Illawarra, how can you expect players to respect the gloried history of the club in that. It is the equivalent of the Aussie Cricket team walking out in Baggy Reds

Could not agree more Mick. What is it? What is the significance of changing jerseys? I have to admit it is better than the all red Steelers like outfit we have worn in the past. Still another win to the Dragons. That is two on the trot. Like the last game they let the Warriors back into the match after holding a solid half time lead.

One of the Dragons favorite sons Brian Johnston is the new club Chairman after long time boss Warren Lockwood packed his bags this week. Pity Lockwood dod not take Peter Doust..our much despised CEO.. with him.

Dragons welcome Johnno as the club's top man with a strong win over the Tigers. The Dragons are actually creating and scoring points this season. There is hope for them yet. :orcass

Another win by the Dragons last night, took a 28-4 lead into 1/2 time and hung on despite a 2nd half comeback by the Cowboys.

Scraped in Mick after a poor second half. Shows a lack of discipline and the killer instinct to put away a team. Two traits needed at finals time. Looks like the Dragons will offer Mary another contract. Gotta say I am pleased as Mary is as passionate about the team as anyone. Roosters eyeing off Josh Dugan. What happened to our interest in James Tedesco? Would be a great fit for Dugan.

Great news! Gareth Widdop signs on for the Dragons for the next 4 years. Good on ya Gaz. Expect the Tigers to now sign Josh Dugan. Sorry we could not snare Tedesco. Any other good full backs off contract?

On top of his new four year contract Gareth Widdop also celebrates his 150th First Grade game on this most solemn of days. Tim Lafai who is finally showing his talent plays his 100th.

2018 Gains: Ben Hunt (Brisbane Broncos, 2023)
2018 Losses: None
Player Contracts: Re-Signed: Euan Aitken (2020), Jack de Belin (2020), Jacob Host (2020), Gareth Widdop (2021)
Off Contract 2017: Levi Dodd, Josh Dugan, Kalifa Faifai Loa, Yaw Kiti Glymin, Siliva Havili, Jacob Hind, Drew Hutchison, Tim Lafai, Chris Lewis, Kurt Mann, Jake Marketo, Mose Masoe, Will Matthews, Tyrone McCarthy, Josh McCrone, Taane Milne, Jason Nightingale, Shaun Nona, Russell Packer, Izaac Thompson

How has Samoan rep Mase Masoe at 130kg not played any first grade yet the smaller Leeson Au Mau keeps getting picked ahead of him? He was conveyed to the club to add muscle up front. Tim Lafai is playing excellent football and must be retained as must Drew Hutchison for his versatility. Sorry to see Will Matthews go. Also "Gypsy" should be allowed to finish his career as a one club man.

6-0 at lemons.Strong first half by the Dragons. Defence kept smashing the Chooks. Widdop has not come on for second half. Roosters win 13-12. When are they going to ban golden point? Both teams deserved a point. Losing Wids was a huge blow.. the boys looked rudderless in the second half. Could also be a long term injury which sucks.

Someone tell me why there is a 10 day camp for SOO and only a 5 day for a Test match. This is where the NRL has its priorities arse up. Is playing for your country not considered a greater honor than playing for your state? Evidently not. We have already lost one of our Kangaroos Aaron Woods to injury for playing this weekend. How many others? Also why is this laughingly called the Anzac test.. Anzac Day was last week. Hello.

Pretty good news for the Dragons that star playmaker/captain Gareth Widdop will only miss 6 weeks. The big problem is how will the Red V cope without his creativity. Why has a playmaker from the lower grades not been given a shot. Someone like Shaun Nona for the Cutters. Kurt Mann is not even a playmaker. He is a utility who last played at the scrum base in his junior days.

I can see this being a nitemare run for the Dragons. Losing chief playmaker Widdop and then the disruption to the comp by the bloody SOO. I expect two if not three Dragons to make the Blues side. Storm are giving us a belting down at Win. 22-4 at lemons. Pretty decent recovery Dragons to add 18 points in second half. But the game was already lost by then. :(

Rejoice Dragon fans our prayers have been answered, Anthoney "THE MAN" Mundine wants to make a comeback and play for the Dragons.
The greatest Rugby League player ever you know, how did League survive without him? Should be payed $10m a year. A dead set cert now for Legendary status.

What you don't think he was the greatest ever? Your totally wrong, just ask "THE MAN" he will soon put you right.

The day Mundine puts a Red V Jumper back on i will start barracking for the Broncos and the Maroons

Hey quess what leaguies there is a Kangaroo game on tonite. You could be forgiven for thinking that that was just a joke given the lack of publicity and hype. For bloody sake this is our country's premier footy team? The game against paddles Kiwis only warranted a piddling 5 day camp unlike the over hyped SOO. I love the way new Kangaroo coach Mal Meninga has reinstilled national pride in the Kangaroo jumper since taking over the reins. :hatsoff:

Will this be the final year for captain courageous Cameron Smith? He is within a whisker of equalling Darren Lockyers test record of 59 but will do so only if he plays on till 2019. Fairly unlikely given he will be 36 then.

I have to say it is good to have big bopper Andrew Fifita back in the Kangaroo's engine room. Can someone tell me why he was dropped from the previous Kangaroo tests for offering his support to a one punch killer. No one should condone violence of any sort but I had the notion we lived in a democracy and that freedom of speech was a cornerstone of that democracy.

I have to question Michael Morgan's continued selection for the 'Roos. Surely there are half dozen better players going round in the NRL. Reckon also there are at least 4 better props than Klemmer.

Couple of strokes of luck has the 'Roos leading 12 zip after 25.
Some shoddy defence by the Kiwi outside backs sees the 'Roos pile on another 12 points leading into lemons.

The Kiwis had more ball in the second half and scored two tries winning the half. But the Kangaroos had sufficient money in the bank to run our comfortable winners yet again. How anyone can dispute which is the worlds best rugby league nation is beyond me.

Except it has a world cup which anyone of 3 nations could reasonably win and many more pacific, european and british countries want to participate whereas AFL doesn't even have state rep games in Straya alone.

You say barely but its more an intl sport than AFL. End of. It has a Big 3 and many more countries wish and compete to be the 4th.

Start an AFL thread - I'll be sure not to post there.

Except it has a world cup which anyone of 3 nations could reasonably win and many more pacific, european and british countries want to participate whereas AFL doesn't even have state rep games in Straya alone.

You say barely but its more an intl sport than AFL. End of.

LOL... AFL has a world cup too. Its mickey mouse but not much more mickey mouse than the rugby league one.
I say barely, and in relative terms its an accurate assessment. 3 nations ...wow  I wouldnt even count NZ either, as again, they're just expats chasing the money. no one in NZ cares about rugby league, its a rugby country.

Cricket viewership in NZ spiked with the 2015 Cricket World Cup, but I wouldn't be surprised if rugby league often trumped cricket in this regard as well.

NZ is certainly primarily a rugby country. I think rugby league is on probably a par with cricket in NZ and I imagine the Warriors prolly gets more paying bums on seats than the entire cricket summer does in NZ.

Katto, AFL football has professional athletes in Australia only. Professional rugby league for full times pros clubs exist in England, France, Wales, NZ, Australia.

Say what you will about NZ's participation and following of rugby league, NZ does not still play the game. How on earth do you think all the Kiwi's end up getting scholarships to Australian Rugby League schools and into the NRL development squads? They're not all pinched from rugby. Rugby League is played by NZ kids and has a core following in NZ. Its certainly second rate compared to rugby. But everything in NZ is second rate to rugby.

But comparing AFL to Rugby League for international participation and following is like comparing Soccer to Rugby if not Rugby League. Its a no contest. Rugby League wins this hands down with only 2 full time professional leagues spreading 5 countries (or 4 if you incl Britain as one). Heck, its the national sport of Papua New Guinnea.

The NRL, as is the ESL, is full of Australians, Brits (Eng dominated but Wales and more too), Kiwis, Tongans, Samoans, Fijians, Cook Islanders, PNG, and a few more oddballs from European countries, whats the AFL? 99% Australian? Or higher?

Now you can claim that rugby is much much bigger in NZ than rugby league, and it is, but most kiwi rugby fans could at the very least tell you the fundamentals of rugby league, they couldn't tell you much about AFL. 100k Kiwis will watch state of origin not even with any kiwi players, 692k Kiwis will watch the Warriors in a grand final may be insignificant to over 1m watching the RWC final of All Blacks in Britain, or 2m in NZ in 2011, but the AFL Grand Final would be lucky to get 10k viewers if its even televised.

Hope those nongs at the NRL got the gist of what Cameron Smith was hinting at in his acceptance speech after the Kangaroo's belting of the Kiwis. It was plain as day that our 'Roos skippper was having a dig at the short preparation allowed for the Anzac Test. Wake up you knob heads at League Hqts and give international Rugby League Tests the respect they deserve.

Rugby League lags behind other world sports because it is poorly managed. The only time that rl approached a national sport in this country was when Murdoch's millions were splashed around to lure teams from West Australia and South Australia. When that experiment failed it was back to a game played only on the Eastern Seaboard. How many years ago was that and still it remains a game mostly played in two states. The West Aussies are gasping for a chance to once again play in a national league competition but keep getting ignored from RL bosses.
